Dom Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 all these bops, whew. my kinda taste. praying is that song, kesha returned to music in a very well and smart way. the cure cured everybody, what a miracle worker of a song. dusk till dawn was made by sia, zayn would not have done it justice alone. your song is a really smart move for Rita, she did that. beauty and the beast is beautiful, ariana snapped.
lhdang2000 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Praying and Your Song are my favorites from this set. The Cure is good too.
potent Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 I haven't listened to Maren and Shania this year but they've had some great songs in the past (especially Shania obvs) so maybe I will!
Nestor 13 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 "Beauty and the Beast", "The Cure", "Praying" "Dusk Till Dawn" "Perro Fiel" good choice

Kesha, "Praying" Kelly Clarkson, "Love So Soft" I love the direction Kelly took with her last album. She really shined as a vocalist with this pop-soul record and like a boss she snatched another pop solo grammy nomination with this track. Katy Perry feat. Migos, "Bon Appétit" It seems like everything went wrong for Katy after this single was released and I still don't get how this bop didn't become a big hit. The video is one of her best. Portugal. The Man, "Feel It Still" We could say that this was the "alternative" song of the year. I liked it at first listen thanks to the "Please Mr. Postman" interpolation. I still need to check more songs of this band though. Emeli Sandé, "Breathing Underwater" This amazing ballad is easily the most memorable song from her last era which sadly went almost unnoticed. Niall Horan, "Slow Hands" Niall was definitely the Dark Horse of 1D and he surprised me with this song which became in one of my favorite singles from the One Direction guys. Ed Sheeran, "Shape Of You" The song that was everywhere this year. There was a moment maybe in the middle of the year where I couldn't hear anymore but recently I started to play it again and well I still like it (the melody is so catchy that it gets in your head). Rihanna, "Love On The Brain" "Love On The Brain" is one of her best songs ever, a masterpiece and probably her best vocal performance. This song also charted in my Top 20 last year. 2016 Rank: #17 Sam Smith, "Too Good At Goodbyes" Sam didn't disappoint with his comeback single which shows again how good vocalist and songwriter he is. It's still the same type of music he did with his debut album but it works for him. Adele, "Water Under The Bridge" After 2 years since I heard the song for the first time as part of the 25 album, it still doesn't get old for me (last year it was #16 in my Top 100 Singles of 2016). Since we didn't get a music video (*pretends to be shocked gif*) here's a live performance of the song: 2016 Rank: #16 Maroon 5 feat. SZA, "What Lovers Do" I didn't like their 2 first singles from this era that much but "What Lovers Do" was a step in the right direction. TOP 25 NON-SINGLES (#25 - #21) Since this update we are also counting down some of my favorite non-singles of the year. #25. Lady Gaga, "Joanne" #24. Halsey feat. Lauren Jauregui, "Strangers" #23. Shakira, "Amarillo" #22. Jay-Z, "The Story of O.J." #21. Dua Lipa, "Genesis" Edited December 28, 2017 by Green
potent Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 8/10 I don't like Niall and Maroon 5. Breathing Underwater is underrated indeed
Lazuli Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Love So Soft, Water Under the Bridge, Love On the Brain, Slow Hands Joanne and Strangers
JGibson Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 8/10 Love So Soft + Feel It Still + What Lovers Do + Water Under The Bridge + Shape Of You + Love On The Brain + Slow Hands
Ghostlysnaker Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Such a nice set 8/10 My favorites: Katy, Ed, Kelly and M5
Pedro Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Damn you! I wasn't expecting to see "Amarillo" ANYWHERE in the Best of section so that automatically gives you the award for the best best of of the year!!!!
lhdang2000 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 You just give me a 10/10 update. I love every song. I don't like the non-single entries at all tho.

Ed Sheeran, "Shape Of You" 34. Rihanna, "Love On The Brain" 33. Sam Smith, "Too Good At Goodbyes" 32. Adele, "Water Under The Bridge" 31. Maroon 5 feat. SZA, "What Lovers Do" Shania Twain, "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed" The second single of Shania's last album feels more like the usual Shania we know. I liked it more than the first single. Imagine Dragons, "Thunder" I didn't pay too much attention to "Believer" but their second single "Thunder" was much better for me. Either way both songs helped them to make a surprising and successful comeback this year. Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello, "Bad Things" I started to like this song because of the sample of Fastball's Out of My Head. With this collaboration Camila started to show some potential as a solo artist. 2016 Rank: #65 Shakira feat. Maluma, "Chantaje" Just like last year "Chantaje" repeats as the highest charting latin song in my Top 100 Singles. 2016 Rank: #38 The Chainsmokers feat. Coldplay, "Something Just Like This" Not a big fan of The Chainsmokers but this is basically a Coldplay song which it's probably the reason why I enjoyed it. Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj, "Swish Swish" The reason why I really liked this? Well no matter what you think of the lyrics the instrumental is really catchy and I have to admit that Nicki Minaj also did a good with her part. Lana Del Rey, "Love" With this single the old Lana was back. It reminded me to her work during the Born To Die era which I really loved. DJ Khaled ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne, "I'm the One" I really can't stand Bieber but sometimes he releases a bop that I can't resist. SZA feat. Travis Scott, "Love Galore" For me this is easily the best rap sung collaboration of the year and I hope they win their Grammy nomination in this category. Sam Hunt, "Body Like A Back Road" This is such a feel good song. With this single Sam showed he can do both pop and country and do a successful crossover.
