  3. well i mean i'm also joking so but i agree that cults should not be taken lightly (and for the record I don't actually believe swifties are an actual cult in any way shape or form). I do however genuinely believe that taylor is deliberately fostering a really really unhealthy level of obsession in her fanbase and that that obsession has, in turn, encouraged certain cult-like behaviour from said fanbase. plus i'm a kpop stan lmao i can recognise a fkd up parasocial relationship when i see it

Best lead single of this year so far?

This is the ATRL equivalent of Britney's Instagram captions.
  15. You've never seen other athletes be motivated and inspired by the accomplishments of their fellow athlete? The same can happen here. Taylor has said she studied the career decisions of musicians and artists before her, who's to say she isn't now paving a new path/blueprint for artists to succeed in the future? Even with her rerecordings she has massively disrupted the industry and proven that ventures outside of traditional label negotiations can prove to be successful. But it's not my theory, it's the person's you quoted. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Taylor has talked about following in the paths laid out for her by her predecessors, while avoiding certain missteps. Now she's the "Madonna" of this generation in terms of trailblazing her way to the top of the industry, so it's fair to assume she could be influencing future practices of emerging artists.
  16. makeawish

    Miley Cyrus - "Psycho Killer"

i think there's a lot of "how dare she!" on wider social media, people get very fussy about these old post punk tunes
  17. The unboxing video is cute and informative. I didnt know how recycled vinyl production works, and if it does indeed reduce cardon footprint by 90% then that's a great initiative and good for for doing it! Really steps on the neck of bad faith critics who complain about her when your fav is doing the same tactics without climate-protecting measures I just bought the vinyl because of this! https://x.com/billieeilishtrs/status/1790777321907175514

  22. bearman

    Dua Lipa - 'Radical Optimism'

Sorry for the double post, but wanted to say that I understand the sentiment here when compared to Future Nostalgia because that record had a very gimmicky implementation of the sound it wanted to achieve (it's not a bad thing). Physical has all cheesy tropes of an 80s song, Break My Heart has a literal INXS sample, Levitating and DSN also feature very common instruments and beats that make the GP and average Joe say 'yeah she's bringing Disco back!!!!' On RO, she finally kinda carved a sound for herself that does not rely on Nostalgia (pun intended) and has more niche references that the average radio listener has no idea of.
