Adele easily retained her “Rolling in the Deep” wins in the 2012 poll, securing more than 65% of the vote in both categories. In 2013, the Grammys obviously jumped at the chance to nominate a bunch of indie songs that were genuine smashes. Gotye took home Record of the Year for “Somebody That I Used to Know.” He wasn’t eligible for Song of the Year, though, so that went home with Jack Antonoff and friends for “We Are Young.” But pop stars still had a strong showing in the field—none “Stronger” than Kelly Clarkson with her first general field nomination. Carly Rae Jepsen called us, maybe, but the Grammy voters didn’t call her back. Ed Sheeran made “The A Team” with his debut single (and still career-best song), and Taylor Swift suspiciously expanded the Record lineup to six nominees with her first Max Martin collaboration... like ever. (Gotye called WANEGOD the best nominee, proving that some indie dudes contain multitudes [not Jake Gyllenhaal]). Vote for your winners and rank the nominees below!

Do you find a lyrical masterpiece or vocal intricacy more impressive? I’m going to use these 2 artists as an example because they are known as being experts at each. [Bridge] Well, maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'Til you tore it all up Running scared, I was there I remember it all too well And you call me up again Just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here 'Cause I remember it all, all, all Too well [Verse 4] Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own Now, you mail back my things and I walk home alone But you keep my old scarf from that very first week 'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me You can't get rid of it 'Cause you remember it all too well, yeah To kiss in cars and downtown bars Was all we needed You drew stars around my scars But now I'm bleedin' 'Cause I knew you Steppin' on the last train Marked me like a bloodstain, I I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs The smell of smoke would hang around this long 'Cause I knew everything when I was young I knew I'd curse you for the longest time Chasin' shadows in the grocery line I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired And you'd be standin' in my front porch light And I knew you'd come back to me You'd come back to me And you'd come back to me And you'd come back And when I felt like I was an old cardigan Under someone's bed You put me on and said I was your favorite VS

poll What will a new Bruno Mars era look like in terms of streaming and chart stats?
spree posted a topic in Base
His last solo album 24k Magic was released in 2016. Same as ANTI. If Bruno releases, how will he perform in terms of streaming and Hot 100/BB200 stats? His current streaming stats are very good, with 4 songs over 1M daily. Will he surpass your expectations or flop? -
I think she will come back with a successful era.

poll Does TS11 have the potential to outsell Adele's 25 first-week sales (3.38+ million)?

We are living in Taylor's peak and the hype after the Eras Tour is unprecedented and monumental. Do you think TS11 has a chance to clear 3M+ domestically first-week? -
It was a three way race between Grammy winner “Need You Now,” “Love the Way You Lie,” and “Empire State of Mind” in our 2011 Record of the Year poll, but Jay Z ultimately finished in front—making Alicia Keys our first artist to win three polls. Lady A’s “Need You Now” easily retained its victory in the Song of the Year category. In 2012, the Grammys nominated Adele and also some other people. Obviously, all of the Grammys went home with Adele rather than with other people. But here’s a fun question to ponder: would Taylor Swift have made this Song of the Year lineup if she’d submitted two-time Grammy winner “Mean” instead of that flop “Back to December,” and whose slot would she have taken? Maybe one of the men took her spot? Anyways, vote now!

Hear me out. It’s common knowledge that popular music and mainstream R&B trends have shifted from big vocals and traditional R&B production to trap-driven whisper singing. Music is cyclical and major trends will always find their way back. 90s sampling, rap features, true remixes and other elements have again become prominently used, but could Ariana’s next album be that starting point for the once-dominant 90s-00s R&B/pop meld to make a mainstream comeback? I’m talking full-chest singing, big choruses, climaxes; the works. People have been longing for Ariana to fully embrace this sound for some time, but will she do it and will it stick in popular music? Discuss.
