discussion Macron rejects gas supply conexion between Iberian Peninsula and rest of EU
Cloudy posted a topic in Civics
Gas supply has become a big issue for most of Europe due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there's a project called 'Midcat' which consists on building a big pipe line that connects the Iberian Peninsula with the rest of Europe which allows liquified gas that comes from countries like Algeria to go through Spain and Portugal to the rest of Europe. Countries specially Germany and Italy see this as a great way to minimize the impact of Russian gas cuts and an alternate way of supplying Europe. The European Commision even agreed to share the cost of it, however France has rejected it once again. Macron alludes that it isn't necessary because according to him the current small ones aren't operating to full capacity and because it's not a solution that looks on the future as gas is a fossil fuel and Europe has to find other options, meanwhile he went on a trip to Algeria seen as a "veiled" gas trip after which gas imports increased 168% [x] https://www.euractiv.com/section/energy/news/france-keeps-blocking-midcat-gas-interconnection-with-spain/ https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5049968/0/macron-vuelve-rechazar-midcat-no-hacen-falta-interconexiones-espana-energia/ https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/5047610/0/vaivenes-francia-midcat-desconfianza-moncloa-nuevo-intento-paris-aislar-peninusla-ue/ -

discussion Chile: Voters Decisively Reject Leftist Constitution
Horizon Flame posted a topic in Civics
The new charter envisioned a dramatic shift to the left in the South American nation, expanding the role of government and calling for an economic model that would narrow inequalities and help lift up the poor. But for many Chileans, the proposed changes were too drastic. -

Between 60 and 80 per cent of Twitter handles posting on the Russia-Ukraine war may be bot accounts, a research by scholars from the University of Adelaide, Australia has found. Among other influences, these bot accounts may have been pushing people to flee their homes during the conflict between these two countries, the researchers added. The researchers also found more “pro Ukraine’ accounts than those that were “pro Russia”. According to the researchers, 90.16 per cent of the accounts tweeting on the Russia-Ukraine war were “pro Ukraine” and only 6.80 per cent were “pro Russia”. “Balanced accounts” — those which showed mixed behaviour — comprised 3.04 per cent. https://theprint.in/tech/60-80-of-twitter-accounts-posting-on-russia-ukraine-war-bots-90-pro-ukraine-finds-new-study/1114878/

Title. I was 500km from home, visiting my great grandparents, having a beautiful holiday. We were about to have some tea when they announced on the news that the first case of covid in my country was confirmed. My great grandma said “well, we’re done for sure”, and I was like “chill, this will only last a few weeks” they’re both still alive, well and vaccinated luckily.

discussion Does anyone really have "natural" hair"?
Distantconstellation posted a topic in The Lounge
By that i mean absolutely not putting anything in it. No hair dye, gel cream, curl activator, etc.. I always see people with curly hair saying, this is my "natural hair" or "this is what my hair really loooks like". Ummm no it doesnt. Your hair would look a lot different if u didnt have all those products in your hair. Why is it not ok to let your hair be as is? Be frizzy, course, poofy, brittle, etc? This is coming from someone with curly hair. -
