  1. Into You is the better song out of the two second singles and deserved to be a monster smash. Do you think Into You deserve the success that we can't be friends is currently getting?
  2. Was thinking about how a lot of of the pop gurlies' recent album covers lately have been very basic and drab. When MIAMTEC was released, ATRL fumed and scoffed at MIAMTEC's cover for pages and pages. Looking back years later though.. has it actually aged backwards?? https://classic.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=576947

Discuss.
  7. since 2021's Solar Power, girlies seem to focus a lot on summery/optimistic vibes. even the aesthetics are heavily similar (except for Eternal Sunshine ofc). was Lorde influential as always and brought optimism back to pop music? discuss. a reminder that artists were taking notes in 2021:
  8. The Boy Is Mine is predicted to debut in the top 10 of the Hot 100 (or right outside it...it has a lot of potential as a single tbh). Who do you think Ari should feature if she were to maybe remix the song?
  9. Which are they? Be honest
  10. vs These 2 artists have debuted at the same time. Had a long break of making music (JLo's last album - 2014 to Xtina's - 2012) And now have come back to make waves in the pop fandoms! Which album do you prefer? More successful in the long run? Better singles?
  11. dua’s team accidentally leaking the lyrics to every song on her upcoming album RADICAL OPTIMISM , thoughts ?
  12. Dance In The Dark is the less streaming song from TFM Is turn for DITD to going viral?
  13. According to the IFPI, Taylor has now been the #1 woman for 7 years. 2014 and 2017 and now a 5 year stretch from 2019-2023. How much longer can she maintain her reign before the GP get tired of her releases like they did with Ed and J Balvin. Who do you see outselling her?
  14. Feeling N-A-S-T-Y The chemistry between her and Usher in the video omg It was originally selected as the lead single of "Dangerously In Love" but became the final 4th single instead. It peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 and charted for 22 weeks
  15. The credits list Melody Thornton but it sounds like Nelly Furtado. SoShy is also listed in places. Thoughts?
  16. Demeanor Cold Heart remix Can They Hear Us Sweetest Pie Potion Dance the Night
  17. (almost) What is it about divorce that activates these girlies to give us their best work?
  18. "It's like Ariana is using the public's love and respect for this classic R&B banger(Brandy & Monica's The boy is mine) in order to launder some less than ideal decision going on here." "Another way this song makes no sense as a reference point is that we essentially have a Brandy and no Monica. There's no other perspective on this track. There's no counterpoint going on, which kind of makes this whole track just feel one-sided and ridiculous. This woman is not your op." "Whether it's the interlude intro where Ari is essentially just kind of musically monologuing with a lot of internal thoughts, "How can I tell if I'm in the right relationship?" Oh man. Notice there's not a whole lot of talk about like red flags on the album, really. But yeah, this little beginning to the record is just one big love-sick rationalization to explain Ari's present-day" "Meanwhile, to go back to the lead single to the record, "Yes," and this track too is engaging in a laundering of sorts, with Ari delivering a message and sentiment on this track about being authentic, being true to yourself, not withering in the face of judgment from others. But she then maps that over onto her fans' judgment of her behavior when judgment for your actions is not the same thing as being judged for who you are personally. Yeah, a bit of a bad rationale there. And while, sure, it's true Ariana is free to throw out there, "Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?" Yeah, that is not my business, but simultaneously, you are kind of turning your own record here into a battleground for this discourse." "The title track as well as the closing track are sweet, dry, and bland like a powdered sugar donut. And also brings us eyeroll-worthy bars like, "You played me like Atari," and I have to laugh when she says, "Now it's like I'm looking in the mirror, hope you feel all right when you're in her." Yeah, I'm sure he feels all right." "When I dive deeper into the narrative and the nitty-gritty of the whole thing, I will admit I do feel like I need a shower." Final thoughts on the album : "Look, overall, I think the record is very pretty. It's sweet. It's listenable. In its best moments, it's catchy. In its worst moments, it's bland, unimaginative, and kind of basic." "Her style and aesthetic are getting kind of stale at this point. She's rehashing ideas from albums that are years old on this record. Either that or she's trying to play catch-up with a new vintage retro dance-pop wave that she's kind of behind at this point. The impact of a single like "Yes" and is not as great with records like "Renaissance" floating out and about, if you know what I mean. So yeah, the production, the sound, the songwriting, really everything about this record is inconsistent, spotty. Honestly, the only thing that is actually focused on the record is the narrative. This is truly Ariana's "I broke up and I got back together with a guy that people don't like" album, which I guess it will be upon Ariana's audience to decide if that's really interesting enough of an angle for this record to be worth listening to for the next couple of weeks, for the next couple of years." "And while in some respects I do think this record is an improvement over her last positions, it's really only a very, very slight one. I'm feeling a light to decent six on this project."
