  1. You know what should take a fortnight? Album reviews. - Bloomberg I wholeheartedly agree with this article. Thoughts?
  2. Taylor Swift is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most influential pop stars of our generation. With multiple successful albums, countless hit singles, and a loyal fan base, she has cemented her place in the music industry. But as she continues to dominate the charts and break records, one question remains: Has Taylor Swift reached the peak of her fame? Over the years, we have seen Taylor Swift evolve from a country singer-songwriter to a global pop sensation. Her music has resonated with people of all ages and backgrounds, and her performances are nothing short of spectacular. But with every peak, there is bound to be a decline; The Tortured Poets Department, her latest album, has received mixed reviews and her public image has faced some backlash. Despite these challenges, Taylor Swift's fan base remains loyal and her success is undeniable. She has proven time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. But with her current level of fame and accomplishments, is there really anywhere left for her to go? Has she reached the height of her career, or is there still room for growth and even greater success? It's time for... ASK ATRL! DISCLAIMER: I am not implying that Taylor Swift's career is over or that she has peaked. This is simply a discussion about an artist's journey and the various stages of success in the music industry.
  3. Britney's peak was no bigger than Madonna, Adele, Gaga nor Taylor. Tbh she only sold tons of albums because she would limit her singles sales to ensure bigger album sales (that explains her mediocre Hot 100 peaks back in the day) Once digital sales became a thing, she kinda flipped from album artist to singles artist Not saying she wasn't successful, but it's overrated
  4. Post some historical artefacts from stan culture On a recent excavation I found this:
  5. Metacritic: User score: tbr AOTY User score: 48 Rateyourmusic: User score:: 2.2/5
  6. - The endless strings of metaphors and similes on this record just fall flat. "The writing quality on these tracks really makes it difficult to feel for Taylor in the midst of all of this heartbreak." - Taylor hasn't taken the time conceptually or sonically to formulate a new sound, a new direction, a new evolution to coincide with this latest album cycle which she usually does with her new albums. "As a result, the material on this record on the broader pop landscape sounds derivative, sounds redundant, sounds uninspired." "I think she's closing those creative gaps by copying her contemporaries' homework. Ariana already wrote the angry at my audience for dragging me over my boyfriend anthem-of-the-year with yes, and? The song imgonnagetyouback - Olivia Rodrigo literally already did this same wordplay concept on get him back! with her latest record. There's already Florida!!! and Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? where Taylor cannot help herself from ripping off Lana Del Rey again and again and again not only lyrically, but vocally and melodically." - She needs to stop working with Jack Antonoff. "To put it bluntly, she needs to stop working with him or take a break because their creative partnership on this record is not yielding the results it used to. We're now getting multiple instrumentals that feel like Midnights but worse." "Jack forcing some awful 80s pastiche onto Taylor's songs that make them sound dated upon impact." "Jack's work with Taylor is just not what it used to be." Positive takeaways: loml is the best song on the album.
  7. Katy wanted Unconditionally to take off so bad but everyone said NO
  8. The smash WCBF coming to avenge its run
  9. Its breaking unprecedented streaming records and is set for a massive first week debut. The album also stands at a 84 metacritic score. Is Taylor eyeing her fifth album of the year win? Or will Beyoncé, another artist or possibly Billie Eilish (former AOTY winner) walk away with it next year?
  10. The Independent: 5/5 Rolling Stone: 5/5 Variety: Positive The Irish Times: 4.5/5 Clash: 8/10 Dork: 4/5 Los Angeles Times: Positive (80) The Guardian: 4/5 The Line of Best Fit: 8/10 The Telegraph: 4/5 The AV Club: B (75) The Forty-Five: 3.5/5 NME: 3/5 Evening Standard: 2/5 Metacritic: 84 (12 reviews) AOTY: 78 (9 reviews)
  11. She has released two mediocre albums in a row with Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department. Even 1989 TV had sloppy production. Can she still make another good album like Folklore? Is Jack Antonoff holding her back? Should she take a break? Discuss.

    Lemonade turns 8

Beyoncé's best album was released accompanied by a film on HBO. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 earning 653,000 units in 5 days, and ending the year as the #1 album on IFPI. The album is one of the most awarded albums in history; including 8 VMAs, a Peabody and 2 Grammy awards. Promotion for the album included jawdropping historic performances at the Superbowl, BET Awards, MTV VMAs, CMAs and Grammys.
  13. Her singles everybody and ftcu have been spammed on radio but never took off besides radio. Why?
  14. We all know Taylor is one of the best lyricists of her generation. She paints stories with her pen and has built her career on the words she writes. But one of the main criticisms of her new album is a lack of variety when it comes to melodies and her vocal delivery throughout the album. Much of Taylor's songs by nature of her style of writing start off as lyric ideas - scribbled couplets on pieces of paper, journal entries - rather than sonic ideas. Given the recent technical praise Ariana has received for eternal sunshine's vocal production and melody compositons (largely helmed by Ariana), should Taylor consider experimenting more in the studio for the next record with writing melodies first with less emphasis on the lyrics?
  15. This isn't meant to be shady, I wanted to collect well-thought out opinions. 1. For stans, what unique qualities make you favor Taylor over any other artist? Is it the Taylor lore / love drama, lyrics, melodies, Jack's chemistry with her, etc? 2. For people who don't enjoy Taylor, why do you think this is? Are you not into her style of music or is there something in particular you don't like?

    Remembering Esmée Denters' career

    I hope she's doing well

  18. From her new song So Long, London: She heavily implies that Joe was dealing with clinical depression, which is why she broke up with him. I am not judging her for her decision to break up over this; depression can be a *****, but why expose it to the world knowing how miserable he is because of his condition already?
  19. After her global smash, Cruel Summer, Annie Clark is coming back with her new album this Friday. Will you be tuning in for AOTY?
