According to the latest news, 2x Academy Awards winner Cameron Crowe and 10x Grammy Awards winner Joni Mitchell have begun work on a biopic about the life of the legendary folk singer. Should Taylor take charge of the lead role and span all eras of the legendary Joni's life? It could be her Evita.

Like an era where she is truly underperforming for her standards, like what American Life was for Madonna. Or is she too big to ever flop?

base talk Is time the only thing Taylor Swift is lacking to be a legend?
awong918 posted a topic in Base
In other words, if Taylor Swift continues doing what she's been doing for another 10 years, will she finally be recognized as a certified legend in the same vein as Madonna, MJ, Beyonce, Prince, Whitney, etc? Discuss. -
No offense to her fans in any way (i'm one) but what on earth? Sh's obviously not at 100%. Couldn't she have healed first before touring? I just don't get it. The heels can't be good for recovery either?

At 41, Beyoncé vocals are still so consistent and excellent. This is rare in pop world esp after seeing recent tours by other main pop girls who talk-sing as opposed to actually SINGING. Granted its because they can't sing but its interesting to see. What she does here vocally in this opening is immaculate and beautiful Why do you think her vocals are still sublime at this stage?

base talk AM isn't even close to Spotify in streams, why some stans use it as a strong metric?
bringdanoize posted a topic in Base
I found out an interesting article on Apple website about AM streams. It is reported that the most streamed song on AM ever is Shape of You by Ed Sheeran with more than 930m streams. On Spotify SOY has more than 3,4b streams (and it’s not even the most streamed Spotify song), so I can assume that Spotify is bigger than AM at least 3x times. On other note, Sheeran has more than 9.5 billion plays globally on AM overall, at the same time he has more than 42b lead streams on Spotify. So, by this numbers Spotify is bigger more than 4x times. It is safe to say that Spotify is bigger that AM at least 3x times, and even more. Why some stans use non-reported AM streams (comparing it with Spotify positions) to make their faves look better when it is actually not even close to Spotify? Source: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2023/05/apple-music-live-returns-for-a-brand-new-season-with-ed-sheeran/#:~:text=Sheeran is one of the, than 930 million plays worldwide -

New girl group FLO went viral on Twitter last year. Since then their management/rollout has been pretty great, and their music is amazing too. They signed with Republic, performed on a few Talk Shows, followed up quickly with a flawless EP, constant droplets and videos. Went on a solo (albeit small) tour, and got acknowledged by established artists (SZA, Ariana, Brandy…etc). “Cardboard Box” went viral on TikTok last year, but it didn’t really translate to any success with the song

base talk Should Beyoncé had proactively addressed her foot injury before the tour?
Space Cowboy posted a topic in Base
Many people are dragging her right now for her lack of energy in her tour. Beyoncé is known for high energy, dance breaks, etc. Lots of dancing. This concert is undeniably different, with speculation attributing the lack of dancing to a foot injury she’s still recovering. Bey doesn't need to dance to captivate the audience, but it's her dancing what has make her one of the best living performers. It's something that's almost a given in a Beyonce performance. Many of her fans have traveled across the world and spent thousands of dollars to see her perform. Yet she decided not to communicate this issue to her fans. I feel like the Hive would have understood. Like… you had a foot surgery, you're still recovering, and you're still going to put on an amazing show, but it will be different. But being completely silent on the fact that you’re not at your 100% due to an injury feels like a selfish move to her fans to maximize ticket sales. And now she’s getting accused of being lazy and having no energy as she hasn’t really confirmed any injury and for now it’s just speculation. -
base talk BP career parallels: Jennie=Rihanna, Rose=Taylor, Lisa=Britney?
MingYouToo posted a topic in Base
Once contract renewals and the eventual barrage of global domination, do you see the 3 English speaking BLACKPINK girlies careers having similar trajectories to these pop girls? Jennie is the IT girl in Asian pop culture right now, same way Rihanna was universally adored in America and Europe, anything she touches turns to gold and $$$, she is in extremely high demand for both collaborations and fashion lines (the only thing holding her is YG) Rose could become a balladeer in the pop world, give us more Hard to Loves and pop rock bangers. She seems like an Olivia/Taylor who can dance with way less songwriter credibility. Her singer songwriter brand could probably net her a strong fanbase as well. Lisa has the hallmarks of a Britney-like career imo. amazingly ridiculous dancing talent, killer stage presence, middle of the road vocals, a good production and marketing team would carry her to the top of the charts tbh. -
base talk Why is Spotify continually given precedence on ATRL over Apple Music?
Bey Admired posted a topic in Base
It’s giving racism to me. Apple Music, in the US, has a bigger subscriber base than Spotify. However, because Apple Music’s subscriber base ostensibly has more black people, it’s often disregarded and diminished as a viable metric of an artists streaming power. Example: Beyoncé dominates Apple Music in a way that, arguably, no other female artist does. And yet, the white twinks of ATRL continuously try to push the narrative that she is poor on streaming because her Spotify numbers are not as good (despite the fact that her Spotify numbers are pretty great and consistent for someone 25 years into her career who had all but abandoned streaming up until 2 years after the release of Lemonade). Essentially, my point is that Beyoncé has an exceptionally diverse fanbase and her listeners are often spread somewhat equally on both Spotify and Apple Music. But let’s compare that to a white female artist such as Lady Gaga. Her streams on Spotify are okay (Renaissance, as a matter of fact, is actually performing much more consistently on Spotify than Chromatica did), but her AM performance is somewhat abysmal. The same goes for Taylor Swift. She can never seem to get a stronghold on AM in the way she does Spotify (because the majority of her listeners are white and Spotify users). But curiously, they are never criticised or held to account for their subpar performance on AM. Whereas, Beyoncé is consistently put down by ATRL for not having the same streaming numbers as Taylor and other white female artists on Spotify. Seriously, ask yourself why that is and be honest with yourself. It’s because of your implicit bias. It’s very simple, it all comes down to a blatant disrespect for black artists and black music listeners. It’s time to start treating AM with the same respect as Spotify, particularly in the US. Enough of the Spotify supremacy. It’s time to start treating black music listeners with the same respect as white listeners. Thank you. -

base talk Is Taylor's work ethic proof that other artists are kinda lazy?
IBeMe posted a topic in Base
So Taylor has been releasing quality music consecutively for ages now. She recently upped that by releasing multiple records per year now. She is on a massive tour and didn't let rain detract her from performing for her fans...she literally passed city curfews and performed well into the night. She is also writing a script for her directorial debut. She is also giving fans lots of mvs again. So is this proving that other artists are kinda lazy in comparison or is Taylor just on another level in terms of her work ethic? -
