Looks like we might be getting a Deluxe! She was in Nashville yesterday for a session with same musicans she recorded Bouquet with.

Of all the l word songs, i really wish she would have included Rearview on Bouquet...i think it would have rounded it out a little bit, but still fit quite nicely. Sooner would also have fit perfectly, and has a bit of that classic Gwen feel. Add those two and True Babe, maybe take out a song or two from Bouquet, and you have an A+ album tbh.

Bouquet just got sent to radio in the UK, so i'm hoping that means it'll be a single here in the US once Somebody Else's ends it's run.

Personally i actually think a lot of the songs on Bouquet are more interesting than these leaks, but that's all subjective of course!

Reminders demo is cute but not as fantastic as the Bouquet version.

Regardless of what y'all think of the album, all of which is subjective and valid of course...i think y'all aren't taking enough into account that she is a 55 year old woman in America lol. You know who else released an album last week? Mary J. Blige...in terms of longevity, success, etc, about as good a direct comparison to Gwen as you're gonna get. You know how much it sold? Less than 4k. Didn't even make the Billboard 200. Root or yearn for pop Gwen, or rock Gwen, avant garde Gwen, or whatever Gwen you want...but do it cause it's what you want, not because it would somehow have made this project more of a commercial success somehow. Nelly Furtado (another decent comparison) went the cool pop route with 7, and she too failed to sell 4k or make the Billboard 200. Gwen could have well sold even less had she gone that route...or let's say it would have done amazingly well and sold 25k lol...do we really think that is even a drop in the bucket for Interscope and makes any difference in her profitability? 13k is obviously not great...but i don't think this was below Interscope's expectations for a Gwen Stefani album in 2024 (and shouldn't have been tbh)..the physicals were sold out on her own website and Walmart by Monday of her release week. They clearly weren't expecting some massive demand lol.

I know this is a common belief, but i think it's a wholesale misunderstanding of Gwen Stefani. If this were true...why would she re-record a mostly Cirkut produced classic Gwen sounding pop album, into an AC country tinged album (without her labels support). SHE didn't scrap the 2021 album (she very clearly at the time said "i'll put it out whenever they let me!")...and she's never said it wasn't quality...in fact she's said the opposite, that there were a lot of great songs, and that she might release some of them at some point. What she has said is that even the "people around her" (the label) didn't have any interest in putting them out (because i assume Interscope saw the Slow Clap reaction, and thought it could actually hurt her legacy and hurt the way they actually make money off of her)..and that it felt like she was chasing herself and her past...which tbh, it did...i LOVE Rearview, and a really like a couple of the other songs, but most of the songs did feel like a producers take on what people want from Gwen Stefani. Do i think that the label, the GP, not loving the songs she put out made her insecure? Sure, she is very insecure and very open about it...but when she loves something, she loves it. Her favorite album she's ever made is her Christmas album...not LAMB, not Tragic Kingdom lol...and she truly does seem to love Bouquet, and i think she's at a place where she has given up on commercial success (which she should, cause literally no woman her age in the US has it with new music). It's a hard process for pretty much every major pop star when they hit that point...and Gwen survived commercially viable longer than the vast majority of her peers...but i think she's made the transition, and i actually think we'll get more music from her in the next 10 years than the past 10 years because that pressure is off.

So it seems it was probably most of the same songs...Circkut worked on Somebody Else's, Bouquet, Pretty, Empty Vase, Late to Bloom, and Swallow My Tears...so assumption is there are Cirkut produced version of all those tracks...And then Jack and Coke produced versions of Purple Irises (solo), Marigolds, and All Your Fault. Reminders was actually from the reggael album, originally produced by Di Genius.

It's one of my favs! I want a hq performance of it so bad.

More like...Interscope shelved her reggae/ska inspired album -> she was fighting to write an album and jkash helped her do that -> she recorded a pop album mostly produced by Cirkuit -> she thought it was to past/hit-chasey so decided she wanted to re-record it with a live band -> Interscope again didn't support her -> she made it happen herself -> ATRL calls a 55 year old woman a flop as if any 55 year old woman does numbers in the US, rather than celebrating that she managed to actually get her record out as rare as that is for a 55 year old woman.
