  2. Welp. It's deplorable but the ones that were against Kamala are to part blame for this travesty. Now we have this monstrosity about to commit his deeds in the name of Israel. It's so sad.

  8. I'm not sorry when I say **** every American who voted for Trump. I feel sorry for the Americans who voted democrat who will bear the brunt of his policies, but I am reeling for all us non-Americans who have to endure another four years of this ******* man that we did not sign up for. The effect Trump had on the global social, cultural and political landscape was monstrous from 2016-2020, and to know we as a world are going to have to go through that again is going to do my head in. We are going to regress a lot as a society. America once again shows us the reason why they have the reputation of being the dumbest country in the world. I am disgusted that so much of the world's affairs get to be decided by millions of people whose IQ matches a pile of ******* rocks.

  18. Yet another reminder that America is not a 50/50 country, it's a Republican country at its core that leans centre sometimes. I can't believe that in 2024 America is not ready for a female president, but they're not. Much less a Black female president. You think that most people think like us because we appear to make up most of the public discourse (the internet, entertainment, arts & culture, education) but they don't. There is an enormous silent majority out there and sure as hell they came through again tonight.

  20. I rewlly think democrats should stop chasing artist's endorsement next time. I feel like it's very off-putting to the normal folk to have those millionaires supporting a candidate. At least here where I live, people have the saying "if artists are going one way, I'm going the other"

  27. I was prepared for a Trump win but I'm in shock about what's happening overall. Democratic incumbents getting beat by Republicans, Congress could be majority Republicans, the popular vote with Trump, the youth vote rise with Trump, the Latino vote jump with Trump, him improving from areas in 2020. This is a complete a total rejection of the Democratic Party. And this is even worse than Clinton so Dems can't even blame third party votes for this failure. In 50 years political scientists will look at the outright snub and plot to erase Bernie Sanders (both in 2016 and especially in 2020) as one of the biggest mistakes the Democratic Party has ever made. For a more optimistic view on these results: Trump is an anomaly. His personality is his biggest asset, in ways most Republican politicians don't possess. Every Trump clone is a total failure. The public continuously rejects Trump-like figures despite supporting Trump himself. That indicates to me that the Republican Party may find trouble in 2028. It's now up to the Democratic Party to do a total factory reset, clean house, and rebrand. This may be an unprecedented election but things can still change for the left. It's not over.

  28. I know that this is an emotional outcome and many people are going to feel a large amount of shock. But, I just want to take a moment to say it is okay to grieve and mourn tonight, tomorrow, and even the rest of the week (assuming what looks to be the outcome does come to fruition). But, it is important that you stay engaged. Do not just tune out completely until 2026 and 2028. Stay engaged in politics and look into ways you can fight back in the local level. I remember thinking the country would fall apart in 2016 and all the efforts led by protestors to fight back made me feel more optimistic for the future of our country than any election. This result sucks, but it is not the end of the country. We will still be here. We will still fight. We will still remain. So, don't log out. Don't disappear. Stay engaged. Get involved in organizing, protests, ballot initiatives, any union efforts at your place of work, etc. Do whatever you can to fight back. If you stay in this thread, I'm sure you are bound to fight with people in this thread about the best ways to move forward or the best way to interpret this electoral outcome. But hashing out those disagreements is part of the process and it's how we all grow and become stronger. So stay plugged in even if it's difficult. Alright, that's enough of a lecture from me. Good night y'all.

  30. Feels like 2016 all over again, everyone's overreacting but in reality not much will change. There will be some ragebait law proposals that will steal attention from actual issues that'll go ignored. Maybe the US will get a bit better at international diplomacy since that's something TRUMP was doing right at least.

  39. Celebrity endorsements do nothing. They never have. If anything, they embolden the right-wing message that the Democrats are the party of the elites. This is why I have never understood why people obsess over who Taylor Swift is going to endorse. It's fine when celebrities highlight resources to get registered to vote, but the obsession Democrats have with celebrity endorsements is unhelpful if not harmful.
