Kylie Minogue held back tears on The One Show as she recalled the emotional reason behind her duet with pop icon Madonna. The Australian pop star sat on the BBC One show's sofa on Friday (September 27) to promote her worldwide tour, with tickets already being snapped up by fans. The discussion turned to Kylie's recent performance with Madonna, as they performed a cover of Gloria Gaynor's hit I Will Survive in June in Los Angeles. But Kylie mentioned there was a more emotional reason behind the cover - namely Madonna wanting to mark how the Aussie beat breast cancer. Host Alex Jones asked the pop icon: "Now, earlier this year, you duetted with Madonna. What was that like - because for us, it's like, oh my gosh, the Queen and the princess together" Kylie replied: "For a 14-year-old me just the jaw - I mean, can't get to take it off the floor. It came about really organically. "The request came through her manager. I've known him for many years, and I just presumed when I was asked to join her on stage, it would be her Vogue section, where she has a different guest every night that holds up the card. It's like 10 out of 10. It was to do a cover of 'I Will Survive'. Holding back the tears, Kylie continued: "And her reasoning for that was twofold - one which she sadly lost her mother to breast cancer, and she knew about some of my story, and also just being two women who survived in the industry, and so it was just really amazing moment, and also some people going 'Oh, is this really happening?' "I have some friends who will not forgive me (and said) - 'Why didn't you tell me?' I just kept it as a surprise" She joked: "I may have lost some friends but I did get to sing with Madonna!" Source How amazing. A moment in time I'll always remember28 points

She also mentioned in the Zane Lowe interview that this is her first time recording jazz without Tony. I can't fathom how at this stage in her career (and at our grown ages) some of us can't recognize how special that is for our fave. Obviously nobody is going to be bumping Good Morning in the club, but if you can't see how important jazz is to Gar I don't know what to tell you at this point lol. She's going to be singing jazz for the rest of her career. Why are we acting brand new? And what makes this conversation even more stupid is the fact that her dark bawps are right around the corner. We've heard the snippets and know what direction she's going in for LG7. Calm down28 points

Absolutely heartbreaking. I cannot believe the anti-trans rhetoric that has been spreading for the past few years. All of that has led to this. We must protect ALL trans people.23 points

Some of you are so miserable (tasteless and clueless as well apparently) To say that the album has no artistry is so disrespectful. There was a thought process behind that body of work. Whole classics reworked. New productions and vocals. A whole aesthetic and mood board coming to life. Visualizers. The list goes on. You're literally just here sweating your fingers on a damn forum criticising others efforts. Get a grip.21 points

I dare some of y'all to crucify the good sis for not pulling smash numbers with a jazz side project and wonder why other popstars release the same regurgitated garbege thinking it will stick to the wall. The album is sublime. LG7 lead and movie coming out next month. We won!20 points

I love Gaga down but nobody is moving for her jazz music. Not sure why she decided to spend her hype on this project.20 points
