Kelela #1? Oh wow talent snapped.

Kendrick did great too :clap3:

amazing best of as usual Tom.

My fave discoveries this year were Majid Jordan (I always sleep on them lol) and Thinking of a Place, such a monumental song :jonny:

glad u discovered some likeable tunes :jamming:

Nice set of HMs. Majid, Gabriel, Toro, Syd, and Yellow Days (:eli:) are all great :clap3:

Albums: What a set :flame: Amazing top 4 + LCD Soundsystem is also fantastic :clap3: Didn't care much for Kelly on my first listen but I'll queue it for later to see if my opinions change. All in all, this was a wonderful Best Of to follow with lots of great content :heart2:

i wouldn't forgot about yellow. curious in seeing how much it'll slay your countdown~

I'm also surprised at Take Me Apart topping but why should I be? It's incredible and Kelela deserves it!

Great Top 10 :clap3:I like how you laid out why you put Vince over Kendrick. Two great rap albums though.

It's funny i've seen Kelela being placed between #6 and #2 in so many lists but never topping. A #1 is surely deserved somewhere

Amazing list.

Lemme find out you know about Gabriel!? I've heard so many songs from that album in 2016, I didn't know it was properly released in January 2017.

Great #1 and write up;)

Pink Matter promoted it at first so that was the reason how I found out about it.

Top 40 Songs:

Drugs :nicole: Not among my N1A favorites, but still a great one. Pretty much the same for Homemade Dynamite :jamming:

Top 75 Albums:

Wish I could say I enjoyed Pop 2. I'm actually not against the genre, it's just that the execution was really off. The features were also generally unhelpful. Meanwhile, CollXtion II on the other hand :worship2: Lust for Life has some VERY strong tracks, but it gets weighed down by a few weak links. Melodrama is incredible, of course :alexz:

I agree that some of the features on Pop 2 was messy, but still entertaining.

This Kelly Lee Owens album...

are you a Halfaxa Stan, Tom?

Halfaxa isn't my favorite Grimes album but I like it. It's funny cuz Kelly Lee reminded me of some of Grime's early material.

Damn, I'll have to listen to Take me apart once again, so many people raving about it on here while it mostly left me uninterested.

Kendrick, The National and LCD Soundsystem :clap3:

Chelsea Wolfe getting some more well-deserved acclaim is nice too see. Great lists overall Tom!

Maybe it'll grow but I always liked Kelela's music so it clicked instantly for me.

Ahhh we have the same AOTY (don't @ me). Talent actually won. Love everything you said about it :jonny2:

The rest of the top 10 is excellent as well, especially Damn and Big Fish Theory. :heart2:

Did not expect to see Kelly here

Will check out the two I haven't heard ofc (Dust and 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time)

Some of the HMs deserved better but great countdown as expected :clap3:

:eli: Love Kelly

I didn't give enough time for some of the HMs but they were worth a shoutout.

No Manchester Orchestra, invalid top albums :cm:

Kelela + Vince + The National + LCD :jonny5:

Love The Alien/Grocery/Gold but the rest wasn't that memorable :cm:

I need to listen to Kelela too  But I loved some of her songs in the past.

If you liked her singles then the album should be satisfactory as well.

Hopefully this year is better than last, but with some upcoming/expected releases things are shaping up pretty well.

Okay I'm late as hell but this is exactly what I came here for :jonny:

Top 10 is extremely satisfying (especially top 5) and Take Me Apart taking the #1 spot was a cherry on top :heart2:

Anyway, it was a fantastic countdown and what a journey it was :clap3:

I'm really late :deadbanana: I've been super busy but I saw your list while I was out and then forgot to reply at home mess. Your top 10 is incredible though, probably the best I've seen so far. I only haven't heard the Laurel Halo album. All of the others are undeniable highlights of the year, and it's great to see Ulver and Krit especially, as they haven't been appearing as often as some of the other albums.

As for your #1, it really is a stunning album and I'm glad someone put it at the top position. It's so mature and well-realised, and I've returned to it so many times.

This was overall an amazing list and I'm glad I got to follow it :duck: king of best of :clap3:
