It’s official. Taylor Swift’s reputation (Big Machine) has edged past prior smash 1989 to become her fourth consecutive album to debut with a million-plus first week. The star’s much-talked-about set has bowed with approximately 1.29m on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart.

As we previously reported, nobody else has done 1m in their first week more than twice. (Adele had three million-plus weeks, but they were for the same release: 25.). For reference, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Eminem have had two platinum-plus debuts apiece.

Taylor Swift will land at #1 this week with her fourth consecutive album to debut with over 1m in first-week sales.

REPUTATION : AN UPDATED READ

We believe Taylor Swift’s reputation will land somewhere in this range on next week’s chart:

Taylor Swift (Big Machine/BMLG) 1.4-1.5m SPS, 1.37-1.47m album

If this is on target, she'll surpass the bow of her previous album, 2014’s 1989, by at least 100k. This will be Tay’s fourth album in a row to debut with more than 1 million in first-week sales, with each of those albums selling more than the one before. We're still waiting to see what effect her Saturday Night Live appearance and rumored tour announcement—and whatever other moves she may have in store for D2C, TV, radio, etc.—have on the marketplace.

REPUTATION : A VERY EARLY READ

Based on limited info available today, we believe Taylor Swift’s reputation (Big Machine/BMLG) will land somewhere in the range of 1.3-1.5m on next week’s chart, almost certainly besting her previous album, 2014’s 1989, by at least 100k. This will be Tay’s fourth album in a row to debut with more than 1 million in first week sales, with each of those albums selling more than the one before. Of course, these very preliminary reads precede her Saturday Night Live appearance and a possible tour announcement—and whatever other moves she may have in store for D2C, TV, radio, etc. Stay tuned for one-day projections.

Outselling all of our faves in her debut week

She even outsells ARTPOP's and C2C's entire US sales in it's debut week. If that is not the mark of a high achievement, I don't know what is.
