Alot of girls in here are so concerned about what Aaliyah sold off of iconic and innovative music from 15+ years ago. Whatever she sold, the legends still praised and your faves still stanned.

Keep hoping and praying by using this fansite. I'd be mad too lol

LOL yes aaliyah's great songs (at your best you are love, back and forth, one in a million, are you that somebody, try again) crap all over alot of music from the 00s and 10s.

She really was on a path to superstardom and crossover success

Can't wait for Mariah's tea to be updated.

Beyonce's sales arent great either. She has huge promo, tons of re-releases and video albums just to sell an album. Her music can never stand on its own.  And thats with Bey making generic and safe music, as compared to Aaliyah who made music that wasn't for the masses and took risks. Her music wasn't as mainstream and safe.

And both of Aaliyah's albums were multi platinum without having to drop out of high school like Bey before death. Find another excuse.

Beyonce is the best selling R&B artist of her time, and easily Top 3 of all time with 180M records sold. She is not and never was and never needed to be threatened by your fave.your fave was hood popular. Never forget it. Bye....

maybe because George SUNG every song, WROTE every song, and PRODUCED every song. The other guy did nothing. He basically created the pop bubbly persona, that's all.

What a minute, he didn't sell 120 million records as a solo artist?

Her record sales are over 300M but this list is album equivalents.

1 album sale = 1 album equivalent (ae)

10 digital single sales = 1 ae

3 physical single sales = 1 ae

1 music DVD = 1 ae

1,500 streams = 1 ae

They update slowly since they have to do breakdowns for every artist and pull their streaming numbers directly from Spotify.

This probably the same for GM that man has really sold 120 million records

the top songs list is not accurate

it's missing Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' and The Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling'

weren't they both at 10 million?

Halo & Single Ladies are around 9/10 million also.

The top songs list is based on album equivalents earned by a song. The songs at the top all benefit from being attached to multiple hit albums. Think of it this way: "Blurred Lines" may have moved more streams and single sales than "Toxic," but "Toxic" has been attached to albums that have sold over 17M copies combined, giving it a much higher total.

And both CIL and SL make the list (though they'll be much higher if Bey ever releases a greatest hits). They just haven't updated the list since Bey's chart analysis s

These are very accurate numbers, sis. They might air on the conservative side, but we all know why Aaliyah hasn't sold like she should have. Still, 17M ae in about 4-5 years is better than most of the major popgirls. If her catalog was up on every service, she'd probably be around 22-23M album equivalents.

Your right and if you add his compilations records, he has indeed sold 120 million

Who said she was threatened by Aaliyah? That doesn't even make sense since Aaliyah was gone by the time Beyonce went solo. And before Beyonce went solo she was still "Beyonce of Destiny's Child".

Aaliyah was popular enough to have your faves performing her songs overseas and giving her interviews ,asking for all of her next moves on the red carpet, and Beyonce still cites Aaliyah as an influence. Lmao

Bye.

I never knew she sold over 10M albums

For the other releases are they album sales? Also, is the studio album pure or sps?

The lines under studio albums are pure sales. So Aaliyah sold 5.1M copies, One In A Million did 4.25M, etc.

Other releases count DVD and compilation releases based on their track list. For example, her compilation album sold 3.1M copies. If an album did 50% of the streams from the compilation, it gets 50% of the sales added to it under "other releases." They used Last.FM streams since her music isn't available on Spotify yet.

The total album equivalents can be found under Total CSPC. Aaliyah would've done 21M+ units, estimated by MJ Dangerous, had her material been available.
