Where is her top 10 hit? LOL.

She's a country artist returning after 15 years. There hasn't been a country top 10 in forever (except that Sam Hunt song)

The fact that BTS’ fourth week sales are better than Demi, Shania, and Miley’s :skull::skull::skull:

When BTS gets 3 consecutive diamond-certified album, the best selling album of their genre and a Grammy then you have the right to try Shania. Until then, focus on them topping the Twitter Trending Chart or whatever because I have yet to see them do anything substantial in the music industry :sorry:

The higher you debut the more room you have to fall, yet if predictions hold she'll "only" drop 86.6%.  That's less than the 86.7% for Madonna who also used tour bundles and debuted with fewer SPS, as well as the ~89% for Katy (bundles).  Beyond that, she should remain in the T20 which beats out last week's drop from the The Killers (1-59), LCD Soundsystem's drop three weeks before that (1-56), and Brand New's drop two weeks before that (1-97-OUT :deadbanana2:).

At #5 in pure sales and retaining 2/3 of her SPS, with zero promo, Shania is holding wonderfully.  :clap3:

Her drop is fine and normal.

True, it seemed a lot better after reading that post. :skull: She's doing Janet's 2015 numbers this year so I shouldn't be talking.

From: http://www.dallasobserver.com/music/bro-countrys-sexism-is-ruining-country-music-7070740:

Quote

Let's start with the word "girl." Every genre of music uses this word to refer to women, but bro-country has a particular fondness for calling the young women that have caught their eye by "girl." Bryan alone has six songs in his discography that have "girl" in the title, all of which are infantilizing in their own right. It's already weird for grown men (Bryan is almost 38 years old) to be calling the women that they want to have sex with "little girl," but the consequences are much more far-reaching than a little skeeziness.

The same applies to the objectification of women in country music. We don't often hear about women as a whole in these songs, but we do hear a lot about their body parts. Entire songs are dedicated to "long, suntanned legs" and women's asses, and typically not in ways that would be considered empowering or even respectful. How can women sit at the top of country music when it won't even recognize them as people worthy of dignity and respect, much less as serious artists?

Even worse, this trends toward a very murky definition of sexual consent in many of these tracks. In a time when rape culture is being discussed more than ever, the issue of consent in country music is being largely ignored. My brother, whom I often torture with country radio on our drives back to our parents' house a few hours from Dallas, astutely pointed out that a lot of these songs "sound like they're going to end up in a date rape." Even if they don't explicitly imply date rape, they sure do provide good background music for taking a woman out into the backwoods to try to talk her into having sex.

The theme is pretty simple. Take Florida Georgia Line's "Get Your Shine On," for example. The "girl" in the song is encouraged to keep drinking moonshine, then "slide that little sugar shaker over here" so that she can "rock all night long." Something tells me that Florida Georgia Line isn't talking about a guitar jam. Not to mention the fact that they're driving down what presumably is a country road, which doesn't exactly provide for many escape routes.

CHART STORY: HIP-HOP ON TOP

Rapper NF’s third studio album, Perception (NF Real Music/Caroline), has exceeded expectations, debuting at #1 on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with more than 53k.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Greatest Hits (MCA) holds at #2, tacking on 47k, while fans continue to mourn the loss of the late great frontman.

As for the remaining new releases, Lil Pump’s self-titled set—out via Tha Lights Global/Warner Bros.—rounds out the Top 3, while Kane Brown’s Kane Brown (RCA Nashville/Zone 4) bows at #5 with 42k, Marilyn Manson’s Heaven Upside Down (Loma Vista) enters at #9 with north of 31k and August Burns Red’s Phantom Anthem (Fearless) debuts at #20 with nearly 18k.

Post Malone’s Stoney (Republic), meanwhile, returns to the Top 5, landing at #4 with an additional 44k, which makes sense considering the rapper’s currently the most-streamed artist in the world. That said, his latest single “rockstar” f/21 Savage—off upcoming album Beerbongs & Bentleys, due early 2018—spends another week atop our Streaming Songs Chart with approximately 34m more streams. Remember, in less than a month, the track amassed 160m+ streams on Spotify.

And Korean group BTS re-enters this week at #14, in tandem with the physical release of Love Yourself, which turned heads when it flew to #1 at iTunes in 73 markets upon release last month.

When it comes to the battle for SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 47%, WMG follows with 27% and SME is #3 with 23%, while the indies trail with 3%.

Streeting this week are albums from RCA’s P!nk, Capitol’s Beck and Atlantic’s Gucci Mane, as well as eOne’s Wu-Tang Clan, Loma Vista’s St. Vincent, Matador’s Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile, Big Machine’s Carly Pearce, Epic’s Jessie James Decker and Nonesuch’s Robert Plant.

Now if you'll pardon us, we're experimenting with burning weed in the sauna. Check on us if we're not out for breakfast.
