Rihanna's Sex With Me got airplay and it wasnt a single. It got airplay because the song was doing well on its on. Both of Camila's promo singles were added to TTH and Havana was #1 there before they turned it into a single. If a Taylor Swift song reaches #1 on itunes and spotify of course radio is gonna play it, still doesnt mean its a single.

Didn't expect a huge debut for Kelly. I hope radio support will really help her. I'm hoping she can do one big televised performance of the song, too.

she is definately going to be on first live show of the voice but this is like october or something.

she is judge in next season on spring 2018

OMG at the title change. :rip:

Eh. This is her best lead single since MLWSWY, so I'm just happy that she's releasing some of her best music in years.

Oh, yeah, I figured out it would be impossible ofc for the 1st/2nd biggest 1D member not to out-peak the others.

Can we please stop calling "...Ready For It!" a promo single? It is released on itunes, streaming services, had a radio deal with iHeart Radio and even has an audio video on Taylor's official channels. It is a single!

That's not how it works.

Single - sent to radio + available for purchase

Promo Single - Available for digital purchase before album release or made physically available. Not sent to radio

Radio Single - No longer a thing, but they were singles not available for sale

Ready For It has not been sent for radio adds. You can check All Access for it. It is a promo single, not a single.

But you still don't find those 2+ million updates in its first days after the song is released are part of a radio deal? There was even a tweet from iHeart radio that they will start playing the song at the same minute it was released on itunes.

That has more to do with the fact that Taylor's that big and there's anticipation. Every big artist from every format gets album tracks/promo singles played when they release.

I cant believe theyd be dumb enough to go with Ready for it as 2nd single at this point. May have been the plan but its global positions so far are dysmal. You tube terrible. I just dont see big interest there. Videos cant save any ole song.

It isn't going to be a single. Taylor won't be ready for a second single until late October and RFI will be dead by then.

Not bad for a 5 minute song not radio friendly.

The Kelly song is really mediocre. She can do way better.

This forum :toofunny2: Kelly came with the heat and y'all are letting quality flop while trash like Attention slays. Smh. Hopefully she rises but it's unlikely with her streaming.

:toofunny3: indeed. I have no idea why ATRL is stanning this song.

No it doesn't work that way.

how it works is simple.  A song is what the label/artist calls it.

And a label is the one who decided whether or not to send a song to radio, release it prior to the album, etc. That's exactly how it works and it's been a common practice since the 50s (started in the 40s, I believe). It's one of the most basic aspects of the music industry :deadbanana:

Is there any chance of Demi going top 10 eventually?

Lol @ ATRL not understanding a hood classic.

This is another sign of how Nicki failed this generation.

As far as I'm concerned, a single is a song that works both as a promoter for the parent album, and also is intended to be promoted alone, sometimes being released even without an album in mind, focusing on trying to make it a hit, sending it to radios, making a music video for it and with plenty of performances sometimes. A promo single, on the other hand, is only released for promotion to the album rather than the song itself, meaning it can have a video and be sent to radio as well but this is always uncertain and changes depending on the artist and the label's decisions.
