Does your country tip?

31 posts in this topic

Is it common to tip in your country? In my country you're not expected to give tips and I feel weird giving them when the person asked for tip. I only tip when I'm really thankful for the work.

No, my country doesn't have trash minimum wage laws, leading to waiters being mad at people for not tipping, when they should be mad at their lawmakers :cm:

Yes, it is the norm. Sometimes they even add the "suggested tip" on the bill in restaurants.

In night clubs and bars, they even get infuriated if you don't tip and sometimes the employees don't wanna let you out unless you pay the "service fee" (which is actually illegal)

Do they not include it in the bill? It's confusing to me. Sometimes feels more like bribery

It is bribery! Sometimes they include it in the bill, sometimes not. And they never tell you there's a service fee beforehand. And there's an actual law which explicitly prohibits establishments from charging service fee or tips.
