before my thread gets ruined I want to clarify— how do you USUALLY/generally pronounce it?

"celtic" is a word with two pronunciations. one where the word begins with a "k" sound, the other with a "s" sound

how do you pronounce it? people seem to be divided on how one would pronounce "celtic"

I say "keltic"

Like "Seltic" because of the Boston Celtics

They're different. Celtic pronounced "Keltic" is a group of people and Celtic pronounced "Seltic" is a Scottish football club.

I almost never use the word but I've always used "seltic" because phonics. But some people say it's "keltic" so I'll use that from now on.

I pronounce it like "Kell-tic". Had no idea that the Boston Celtics were pronounced differently than that actually.

Celtic comes from the Celts, the Iron Age people who populated Europe. That's pronounced with a K.

In Scotland, the football team is pronounced Seltic but that's the only context I've heard it said with a S.
