i will say it sucks that Macklemore had to take the heat while this guy probably won't have any repercussion, and women have had their whole careers canceled while Macklemore was able to make a whole moment out of it.

Wasn't the whole point of the Macklemore situation to boycott these stadium-owning zionists?

If you truly are so passionate about the freedom of Palestine, how can you perform or attend a concert held in such a venue? Wouldn't you just drop out the minute you learned what kind of person the owner is? I just don't get how a tshirt and an applause from the audience does anything when they all voluntarily contributed into making the owner of that stadium aka a zionist, even richer by literally being there.

Do you know how long in advance a tour is booked... Like (I'm French, so I will give you an example of a big venue in Paris) Accor Arena in Paris have already their booking plan for end of 2028- to mid 2029 as we talk. And the booking of the venue is a big buck but cancelling for no valid reason you'd have to pay the cancelling fee which is a buck and still pay the people you hired. What's easy in practice for a boycott of a venue cannot be done from this day on. The majority of the tours should be over first before they do it properely.

No I do know all of that.. I'm just saying it comes across as a little bit of damage control. Like, "Yeah guys I'm performing here but look at me! I'm wearing this tshirt yeehaww I AM a good person". I just wish everyone did their job and hushed rather than using a genocide to shield themselves from criticism, especially when, ultimately, a zionist comes out of this even richer and the Palestinians only have hashtags to look forward to.

What a subtle but effective way to say fúck you to that billionaire Zionist scum clap3

The damage control angle doesn't make sense to me because who is expecting Zach Bryan to take a definitive stand against Zionism? He could have just not done anything and I doubt there would be much press about it, which means even a small token like wearing this shirt is risky and reflects genuine principle and value rather than an attempt to subdue a fire before it starts.

I've always liked him because he's very anti-establishment and doesn't associate himself with the Country industry at all (or the music industry at all tbh, I don't think he's ever submitted his music at the Grammys). I think his music is a little more Americana/Folk Rock than what you hear from male country artists these days anyway. So he often does stuff like this and stands up for social justice in a way that none of his peers do. clap3
