[Gelato's note: I was in psychosis, I am no longer an OTH. Congratulations Taylor Swift, Madonna, Sabrina Carpenter, etc! But not Sombr]

Wow, I know a lot of those post-pandemic bumps were a mirage, but this is so sad. The internet has lowkey ruined everything lol.

They should just end awards shows. Most people do not care.

i wonder if that stupid football game delaying the start had anything to do with it

beyond that though the lineup of performers was genuinely AWFUL this year. madonna and lisa were the only remotely interesting ones… could they have not picked some fun smaller acts like slayyyter or pink panthress?

The major changes in question will be uploading the entire ceremony as 30-second videos to TikTok with Subway Surfer or Family Guy clips happening in a split screen. rip

What did they expect lmao. It's beyond me that they actually went thru with the event and not having anyone who'd attract people to perform. Like they didn't even try?

Still too many viewers for a self-congratulatory Taylor ritual over some made-up worthless award and a lineup of painfully predictable boring performers.

Well, look at the performers. Who tf booked that line up? Besides Madonna and Bruno Mars (who doesnt count cause he wasnt even there), there were literally no other A-list performances. Coupled with the show being delayed by 30 min and literally not being live, only presenting like 5 awards live (nothing outside of pop/dance music btw), etc... im not surprised.

1) no Gaga no ratings!

2) **** like the 20 minute delay turned this year into a disaster and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that had a huge impact on it with people just tuning out before it even started - all the winners were being announced online before anyone saw them on TV anyway, a mess

2020 and 2025 being the highest. No Ariana no ratings. Nobody wants to see any more of Taylor's undeserved ego stroking. Even her fans aren't falling for it anymore. The rest of the show was Gen X nostalgia bait. The VMAs have lost the plot and the saddest part is they're still the 2nd most relevant music award show after the Grammys. rip

the first year where I literally didnʻt even know it happened until I started seeing clips on SM.
