How is Beyoncé's brand "luxury"? Be serious

Featured Replies

To my understanding, charging luxury prices does not make a brand, and a luxury brand needs little to no advertising, as excessive promotion can cheapen it. However, Bey's been promoting a lot of the products she sells (empty wooden boxes for almost $1K and vinyls for $140 to name a few).

So help me understand where the luxury aspect of her brand stems from, cause afaik this claim only started coming up as a defense against criticism of the overpriced tour tickets. Is the "luxury brand" narrative just PR cope?

I wouldn't say that Beyonce really promotes products, hers or otherwise, that extensively. I'd actually go so far as to say she pushes and advertises the brands and products she's associated with noti

  • No celebrity brands are or have been considered luxurious, this is just a fantasy made up by her fans.

endorses, like her husband's whisky brand.

Jay-Z doesn't have a whisky brand, Beyoncé does.

Why did I think Sir Davis was him rip anyway, updated it. Thanks!

Where is this extensive promotion you're talking about??? She hasn't posted about the ALBUM - not even her merch - on her own damn social accounts, so everything else you're seeing is coming from your own algorithm and social bubble

It's a luxury brand if people are willing to pay the prices. Cécred, her hair care line, is a high-end brand that is successful.

Only celebrity brand which can be considered luxury is probably The Row and maybe Victoria Beckham

This is how I know you're poor because luxury brands spend more money shoving their products down people's throats than they do on the actual products. It's a universal rule. There's a reason they need to pay our fav millions for campaigns. The largest luxury conglomerate is named for fashion and alcohol brands, marketing spend is the only commonality between those verticals.

it isn't. her fans just make that up to justify paying $948 dollars for a box or whatever else she overcharges on after making fun of other artists for doing the same

Is this what was on your mind when you woke up?

Do you work?

you obviously havent tried cecred, if you still have hair you should try it

Only fans that cope after paying those prices say that, not even most of the fans do that

Don't you love it when her stans use 'Michelin restaurant vs McDonald's" to compare her with artists who outsell her

Because both of these things cost the same like 2 CDs from different artists cost the same obviously

The Hive never fails to show their nasty selves when they have to go personal bc they have no real counterpoint.

Im literally a little monster and my comment could be read as shade to either Bey or Gaga because they both own and collaborate with luxury brands. OP is confused as to what qualifies something as a luxury brand and is trying to speak authoritatively. Op being unaware of what a luxury brand actually is was a charitable reading of the post.

Not the box again. rip There's only 500 of them and they're not even sold out after a week.

There's very few celebrity luxury brands. They are not that common since the celebrity part of it takes the seriousness of of them for the people that are willing to pay that much.

Fans getting scammed by their favs is another thing. But a real brand is not just fans

Seems like we have a lot to unpack here:

Trying to make your point with "this is how I know you're poor" is embarrassing when you decided that luxury is reduced to "rich brands spend a lot on marketing." when that's literally the most surface-level observation possible.

Overpricing and marketing =/= luxury, and there are different levels of luxury beyond the mass-facing, heavily marketed celebrity campaigns you seem to be using as your limited frame of reference. The fact that people in the thread understood that distinction without needing it explained to them probably should've been your first clue rip

As for me "trying to speak authoritatively" I made an argument about a specific brand and explained my criteria. If you disagree that's completely fine but what you didn't do was actually refute. Instead you made assumptions about my finances and announced that I don't know what luxury is because I didn't use your definition. That's not the intellectual dunk you seem to think it is. Glad I helped.
