Lady Gaga (40) is one of the few veteran artists still actively contributing to pop music. But will her success continue into her 40s, or will this new decade bring a greater challenges for relevance and success? Career-wise she is on the right track, but also one of the biggest anomalies.

Poll included but anon so the people can vote safely.

Her position as a popstar is easily the strongest it's ever been outside of her imperial era (2009-2012). Her catalogue is widely celebrated and her new stuff is given a fair shot as well. Almost all

As long as Bruno is still making music she has a chance.

If she does, she better do it with POP music. I don't care if she has to collab with the entire industry. No more AC shite!

I don't mean this as shade but it all depends on her collabs

Solo she is not over but it will be very difficult for her to have another big huge era on her own doing pop

Also what movie roles she's able to get

Gaga is one of the few pop singers that could cross to adult contemporary with little to no problem. Shallow and Die with a smile showed that the moms will love her music, as soon as sure ditches full on pop upbeat tracks.

And I do think she can also cross to being an actor as well, so the answer is a yes.

People have been saying she won't at the beginning of each decade so this decade must be the one they really meant.

Her pop songs haven't done well in ages. She's becoming more of an AC type of artist. Maybe she will stick to that. rip

yes. she still hasn't tapped into her full creative potential

Her position as a popstar is easily the strongest it's ever been outside of her imperial era (2009-2012). Her catalogue is widely celebrated and her new stuff is given a fair shot as well. Almost all up and coming popstars as well as some established ones name her as inspiration.

Not only that but she has evidently regained a passion and fire for pop music. I think her hardest years are behind her, at least for now, so things are looking good. If she was artistically fizzling out she'd move into legacy territory (which kinda seemed to be happening inbetween Joanne and Chromatica), but she just delivered high quality/ career best work and does not seem to be done yet.

Yes if anything she's just warming up. She's been on an artistic resurgence since Chromatica Ball back in 2022 so it's only up from here.

She has a The Weeknd one allegedly, I'm sure you'll be ecstatic about that one hihi

She's a legacy artist at this point, but she always knows how to push herself.

I think her next era will be something magical if requiem is anything to go off of. And with Paris around, there's fresh air for once.

I do feel like we'll get atleast 2 more POP albums out of her before 50.

i think MAYHEM was her experiment in blending all her influences into one album to appeal to all of her audiences. tbh she should keep that formula going.

I mean in general AC music is doing better - look at the global top 50. dance music can only take you so far - she was smart to pivot.

I still find this whole solo narrative a joke because somehow Rain On Me is an example where she needs a collab to do well yet Abracadabra is as big if not bigger ie stream milestones and radio peaks (despite the BBH100 peak). Not to mention ARUTW about to hit 2B and out streaming Shallows daily streams.

I think it's definitely time to build on that foundation rather than doing another random pivot. I say Mayhem but bolder and stranger, while maintaining universal pop appeal. That is Gaga's brand appeal, Abracadabra was her biggest solo studio album hit in a long time for a reason.

Somewhat unpopular opinion but Gaga going AC territory might work for her to get a smash ballad once every few years but it would not be viable if she went fully that way and it would rush her into legacy act territory faster than you can say ferrari.

I voted yes cuz somehow she always stays here and also she has the talent.

SuperBowl, Blockbuster movie, Ariana, Blackpink, Bruno... what will the next excuse on the wheel of excuses be I wonder?

She no different than basically every other popstar. I really don't understand why people highlight her collabs so much. The difference between her and other pop girls is that 90% her collabs are major smashes. Even people among her peers still have way more collabs than her.

I hope so and she deserves. A generational talent.

When she finds the balance between GP, core fanbase, and plays the game, it's over for all our faves.

I fully agree with this. She is GAGA, that is what she is known for (Poker Face, Bad Romance, Judas, Abracadabra), that is what her fans want from her, even when it's her more LADY-esque, AC-friendly ballad-y songs (Shallow, ARUTW, DWAS) that take off with the GP.

She needs to maintain BOTH to keep relevant, and she definitely knows how to walk that line with STYLE.
