Looking at raw numbers without context is pretty useless tbh. A flop is measured comparatively to the expectations you have for an artist. 1M for Harry Styles is at the very very least a big underperf

I think it is his most cohesive album to date and not bad at all

  • Swifties trying to argue going platinum in the US asa British artist is a flop.

This tanked so hard rip which I never thought would happen considering its Harry Styles

I mean it still went platinum within a year so that's not a total flop

With no hits this isn't bad. A big underperformance from him but not a Witness level disaster by any means. Harry is in a similar position to all the big 2010s artists (Taylor, Bruno, Ariana, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber). Nostalgia from their fanbase and our culture in general being nostalgia pilled is becoming a problem.

I still use "Aperture","American Girls" and "Pop". These numbers are pretty fine.

I'm sure his next record, if it don't have a mega-hit, will pull good numbers too.

1 million is a flop now? Interesting

If Taylor did 3M for her next album, that would be lowkey a flop for her considering her entire discography is above that. Similarly, if Katy was reaching 1M, it would be a success considering her current state.

Another platinum album alexz

I still listen to some tacks of this album

He completely destroyed all other 1D members all of them released albums this year

What is it with me and flops? This is my favourite album by him and I love Ariana's Petal

Is this really seen as a flop for him? Cause going platinum in less than 6 months is rare nowadays

babes the album opened with 500k first week. taking another 4 months to sell another 500k is…..not good

Harry's House took 5 weeks to cross the 1M mark, was #3 on BB200 and he was not touring.

Disco took 26 weeks to reach that, is currently #123 on BB200 and Harry is currently on tour (on a record breaking MSG residency no less).

Yes, for his standard, it's at the very least a massive underperformance.

Bruno Mars' album has still not scanned 1 million units.

Harry has a huge fanbase while Bruno is more of a GP driven artist. In the long time I know Bruno will eventually surpass it

He scrapped by with Platinum in the US for his "flop" era, that's a win.

A decline to be sure but no one can be on top forever.

His last 2 albums were some of the biggest of the decade and now he barely scanned platinum after almost a year…
