Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' Adds 21st Week at No. 1 Hot 100, Moves to Within One of Tying All-Time Record

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" scores a 21st week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — moving to within one frame of potentially tying the longest run ever atop the chart. The smash first led in February and has already set multiple chart records.

Here's an updated look at the longest-leading hits, ranked by most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100, since the chart began in August 1958:

22 weeks, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey, 2019-26
21, "Choosin' Texas," Ella Langley, 2026
19, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey, 2024
19, "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019
16, "Last Night," Morgan Wallen, 2023
16, "Despacito," Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017
16, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96

"Choosin' Texas," on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers having promoted it to country radio, totaled 24.5 million official streams (up 1% week over week), 58.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 2%) and 7,000 sold (up 6%) in the United States Aug. 28-Sept. 3.

Langley's first Hot 100 leader holds for a 21st week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; stays at No. 5, after reaching No. 4, on Radio Songs; and rebounds 7-4 after 16 weeks atop Digital Song Sales.

On Streaming Songs, "Choosin' Texas" claims the sole second-longest No. 1 run, breaking out of a tie with Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road." Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has notched 26 weeks on atop the chart. Meanwhile, after topping the Country Airplay chart for three weeks in February-March, "Choosin' Texas" continues crossing over at radio, bulleting at its highs of No. 4 on Adult Pop Airplay and No. 7 on Pop Airplay.

The song has run up its 21 weeks on the Hot 100 nonconsecutively over a span of 31 weeks, encompassing six distinct ascents to No. 1, the most for a song over a single release cycle.

Here's a look at the titles with the longest spans of time atop the Hot 100, from their first to most recent weeks at No. 1 (and their total weeks on top):

  • 6 years, 2 weeks, Dec. 21, 2019-Jan. 3, 2026, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey (22 weeks at No. 1)

  • 1 year, 4 months, Sept. 19, 1960-Jan. 20, 1962, "The Twist," Chubby Checker (three)

  • 41 weeks, April 6, 2024-Feb. 22, 2025, "Not Like Us," Kendrick Lamar (three)

  • 31 weeks, Feb. 14-Sept. 12, 2026, "Choosin' Texas," Ella Langley (21)

  • 25 weeks, April 16-Oct. 1, 2022, "As It Was," Harry Styles (15)

  • 23 weeks, March 18-Aug. 19, 2023, "Last Night," Morgan Wallen (16)

  • 21 weeks, July 13-Nov. 24, 2024, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey (19)

Plus, "I Knew It, I Knew You" leads Radio Songs for a third week (74 million, up 11%).

21 weeks for one song is ridiculous

It's not just that CT has 21 weeks at #1, it's spent the last 11 weeks at #1, returning to the top after already having 10 weeks at #1. Pretty much every other long running #1 either had one long streak or several short spurts. I have never seen anything like this before.

CT could run this up to 30+ weeks at #1 before it is all said and done.
