Ansel Elgort wore a yukata, a traditional Japanese garment, to the 'CJ Night in Celebration of Frieze Seoul' event to celebrate the start of Frieze Seoul, an international art fair.

Hollywood actor Ansel Elgort raised eyebrows after showing up in traditional Japanese attire to an event in Seoul meant to showcase Korean culture.

Elgort wore a yukata, a traditional Japanese garment, to the "CJ Night in Celebration of Frieze Seoul" event at the Leeum Museum of Art in Yongsan District, central Seoul, on Wednesday.

CJ Group hosted the event to celebrate the start of Frieze Seoul, an international art fair that runs from Wednesday through Saturday. Some pointed out that Elgort's choice of dress was inappropriate, given that the event was intended to showcase Korean culture and lifestyle to domestic and international guests across the art scene.

So offensive knowing Japan's colonization history against Korea/other Asian countries. Why would he do this even after the event organizers told him the dress code?

By the way, that's not even a formal kimono. That's literally a bathrobe. skull

On the 2nd pic, He's wearing a casual kinagashi, which looks so informal and the way he's wearing it; so ill-fitting. rip

His girlfriend/baby mama is Japanese so she must've put him up to it rip

Why can't he just wear a suit...

For formal events, if you have no Idea on what to wear. A Suit or a black dress is the safes option.

His Stylist needs to get fired for being ignorant as well. These new Gen of stylists are becoming too lazy to do their due diligence.
