Blackpink LISA teases 'n-word apology' in new documentary (soon in theaters)

Featured Replies

For context, almost 2 years ago there was a massive leakage of unedited footage where Lisa, Jennie and Rosé were seen saying the n-word multiple times and started a lot of discussions online.

Blackpink fans say that the members have reduced interactions with social media and therefore, are not aware of criticisms.

However, this upcoming documentary suggests that Lisa (and therefore all the Blackpink members) were aware at the time and ignored the entire situation.

She decided it was better to keep the apology until she could monetize it, what?

These are some of the immediate reactions:

At this point, wouldn't it be better if she didn't say anything at all? I have never seen other artists ignore racism acussations until they can release a documentary, maybe I am lost here...

Even worst, they are ""teasing"" the apology during the marketing campaign, 2 months in advance. Again what??

Using a statement about racism allegations as incentive to buy tickets to your movie is ******* diabolical

Can this racist garbage just go away already? No talent, dogshit music, just useless all around.

You can take the girl out of Kpop, but you can never take the Kpop out of the girl.

Im all for asian talents or southeast asian but like.... good luck booking that mainstream career. The more reason why I left that genre for good coffee

She rapped the n-word before 2016, because there rap parts that she used to learn how to rap to? The footage was never meant to be seen? How aware were young teens in korea over ten years ago not to say the n-word in a rap/pop song?

I wonder if she should apologize for the keyboard warriors or because she is truly sorry. I don't think there was any bad intention but that she and the other girls were clueless/didn't really care because it was done in private.

Is it okay to say the n-word, if you're not black? Of course not. Does she have to apologize over ten years later? I don't know.

As if teenage trainees had any saying in what they did in Korea in the 2010s. They still don't today.

That being said using this for promo is evil

I feel like they thought the reaction to this would be different? deadbanana The backlash is deserved though, using a fake apology is such a weird way to promote your movie

Teasing an apology for saying n* is wild. ahh

Some people (her team?) are ******* clueless.

Seriously who the hell would go to see this movie? I was APALLED to hear she got her own Vegas residency. What a loser

It's because their industry don't see these girls as people, their fans don't see these girls as people neither, they themselves don't see themselves as people. They are just characters and products. So they don't have the concept of an actual person with autonomy apologizing for something they did or said. This is just a "chapter" on Lisa's story in which she is the protagonist and thus we are asked to pay to see what happens to her next. She is not an actual human being with feelings, she is just entertainment to consume.

deadbanana2 when things like this happen, I wonder what kind of meetings they have behind closed doors and how they come to the consensus that this is a great way to approach not only the documentary but also to use it as sellingpoint.

As a certified black person™ (and casual fan, not a Stan) I will give her kudos for her at least admitting a mistake. In 2026, people follow the example of our world leaders and just say the most brash, out of hand, offensive things and pretend like it doesn't affect anyone.

Tbh 8 years ago I would have still been outraged but the cultural bar is so low now that even acknowledging being wrong is better than nothing rip

Friend, she is still not admitting any wrongdoing, she is just teasing a "reaction" about the situation during the marketing period of a movie... this is a new level of weirness, to say the least
