I don't even like Tate that much but those who act like Tate is not good enough then gag over Zara, Dua or Addison as if they were not basically the same thing.

People only gag over her performances and it's deserved. Her music is bland but I saw her at Lollapalooza and even though I only knew like 4 songs I was gagging at the end when she came out all covered in gold.

I find it weird that people in this very thread were bitching and moaning about how all the new pop girls do is try to be like Taylor & sing moody ballads, then Tate comes in and suddenly all people can do is be condescending about her. If it was purely about the MAGA allegations then sure (something I've dragged her for myself), but this has been going on even before they started gaining traction. Just grow up and accept you're not the target audience for pop anymore

People younger than 23 didn't experience peak Britney because music industry kept showing a bunch of Taylor Swists, Alessia Caras, Meghan Trainors, Tori Kellys and Selena Gomezes in 2010s, so of course they would start gagging at a pop girl with an ounce of aura and dancing stage performance abilities

I think she's just too straight-coded. She reminds me of those straight girls in college that played lacrosse and were in a different lane than mine. Hard to relate. She gives me the same energy as Sydney Sweeney. The music is also just cute, nothing ambitious or conceptual. She doesn't really have anything interesting to say or something endearing about her personality, she just kinda deflects all the time like Sydney Sweeney.

She's not all that but I will not pretend like she's awful either. She has a few good moments like Greedy, Sports Car, Revolving Door and *** For Tat + the 2025 VMAs.

Overall I think she's very one dimensional.

Well originally she cornered the market on gen-z pop girls who could also DANCE. She's not camp, weird or theatrical like most dance pop girls thus she can appeal to a wider demographic. She is objectively talented in a way that is tangible so even people who are sceptical of dance pop girls can't easily dismiss her as untalented (see Christina Aguilera winning BNA back in the day). Unlike Sabrina she sexualizes herself in a way that is permissible to the general public.

I don't hate her as much as other people, and I do like her dancing and some songs, but most of the her albums are full of fillers and boring mid-tempos and her voice is genuinely annoying when she sings. Sports Car, Greedy, Exes are ok and they're her biggest hits.

Bottom line is...I am not gagging (that much)

Funnily enough this is when I really started being sceptical of the media push she was getting because there no way she put on a better show than Sabrina but Sabrina said "gay rights" with a bunch of drag queens so they crowned Tate queen of the night.
