It feels like Petal came out, had its big opening week and then everyone just moved on.

I barely see anyone talking about the album or the songs anymore. Most of the Ariana talk now seems to be back to her appearance and the constant concern and speculation about her weight or about Ricky.

I'm not even trying to make this another thread about that. It's just weird how quickly that conversation seems to have overshadowed an album she literally just released.

For such a big pop star, it feels like Petal already became old news.

I'm a huge Ariana fan and I listened to the album twice, not even paying attention to it. Idk what's the deal.

I know it will be a good album, but I still can't sit down and properly listen.

I feel like the talks about her appearance eclipsed the album

It's weird I liked the album but I haven't had much desire to revisit it.

The era is pretty much just the lead single and that's it... And if the label doesn't plan to release another single, we can consider that the era is over, now that the tour is finished and she's on a break.

I added my 4 or 5 favorite tracks from the album to my playlists but I haven't really returned to it since last week (or even before)... I think all the bad press and negativity surrounding it has definitely killed my excitement for it. I guess I'll eventually go back to it in a few weeks / months once the noise has faded.

She / her team is smart to abandon it. Bad energy and press surrounding the whole thing. The tour just ended so she made her money. Time for a hiatus ✌️she don't gaf lol

its good imo but it doesnt add much to the greater scheme of her career trajectory

It kind of did, but the lead single is a huge hit, and the album has still managed to spend some weeks in the Top 10 (4 weeks so far, still charting at #10), so it's not all that bad, really. At the very least, it's not on a catastrophic flop level like some other flop eras (Witness, Smile, Bionic, etc.).

This is the first Ariana era since Yours Truly to produce only one hit, though. It goes to show just how impressive her hit-making abilities have been throughout her two-decade career.

Listened to it once and never again. First Ariana album I've ever done that with :/

The first single was/is a hit, but her personal life overshadowed the era overall. Also, petal was not a good choice for second single, i think it has ruined the chances for anything else to take off after.

The songs just don't really stick… it's hard to explain. Maybe because the album has such a weird feel to it. Idk.
