Perrie Edwards parts ways with label and management

Featured Replies

Perrie Edwards has parted ways with Sony and music management firm Modest! after 15 years.

Insiders say the Little Mix singer was offered the chance to make her second record with Sony's Columbia label, but has turned them down to start anew.

Perrie is now reportedly joining Various Artists Management.

A source said: "This is a hugely exciting new chapter in Perrie's solo career. She is assembling a new team around her as she begins work on her second album."

An insider added: "Perrie has come away from her first solo campaign with an even clearer sense of the artist that she wants to be and the creative direction that she wants to explore next.

"She was offered the opportunity to make her second album with Columbia, but after more than a decade with Sony and Modest!, she felt the time was right for a change across her career and a fresh start as she moves into this next era.

"Perrie is so grateful to everyone at Columbia, Sony and Modest! for their support and hard work over the years and is proud of everything they have achieved together, both during her time with Little Mix and as she launched her solo career.

"After making that transition, Perrie now feels confident and excited about taking greater ownership of the team she builds around herself and the creative direction of her second album."

Is this the sweet kind hearted way of implying that you can't read for ****?

Definitely sounds like wants more control over her music and would rather be happier independent. Rooting for her heart

Hopefully she will find a bigger and proper label that supports and promotes her better

Although I love some of the Disney-star-like songs from her debut, she needs stronger material if she wants to stand out.

she has a good voice that was wasted on generic material.

idk if being independent will help her with that problem given the limited amount i know about her taste. hopefully she gets a good a&r

Can you read? It literally says Columbia wanted her for a second album. She left. Also she still sold well. The label would not have dropped her.

They need to reunite as Little Mix after Jade's 2nd album era. Perrie & Leigh Anne are way too boring to be solo stars

I hope if she finds a good label, she also finds an exc producer who can guide her a bit artistically. She has the voice, I feel she just needs a sparring partner who can push her a bit out of her comfortzone musically to get her the right material

Shocked that Columbia actually wanted her to release another alboom

Weird. I prefer Leigh Anne over Jade.

She's a completely faceless artist with boring music that by the looks of her lack of success appeals to no one. Not everyone can achieve a successful solo career and that's fine. At this point LM should reunite by the end of this decade.

Lowkey this is what she should have done from the beginning. She needed to push herself a little more out of her comfort zone & take a risk working with new people to help shape her sound and identity outside of the group. Will be interested to see what she comes up with next, she's incredibly talented but her debut era didn't really move me.

I think she's supremely talented, an incredible vocalist and she has such a charming personality, she just needs the right sound for things to click in to place.

She would do better under BMG than a big label, getting another top 3 album and launch a solo tour would be much better than chasing a hit that won't come (and would only hinder quality)

She has no vision of the artist she is + the label didn't know how to push or promote her

from the girls she is the one without identity at all
