Is losing weight really necessary for dating?

Featured Replies

I notice that my weight definitely affects my dating experience. I can tell when I'm getting too big because my options reduce.

My face is much more striking when I weigh less than 155lbs. How do you see it.

    Are u a fatty?

it depends if you are a cute fat or an ugly fat

and whether or not you only try to go for skinny or muscle gaise while ignoring your fellow fatties

sad truth of the communité!

Depends on the type of guy you're trying to date tbh. Muscle gays only date among themselves (nothing wrong with that).

Unless you're like really obese most people don't really care about that.

Also if you're fat and don't date fat people that's part of the problem lol. I'm chubby and tall with a preference for short chubbier gays, so I'm doing just fine when it comes to dating.

Yes. I'm tryna lose 20lbs to get to 135lbs before I start dating.

You don't have to be as skinny/fit as you imagine for people to be interested, but a lot people aren't interested in someone past a certain weight.

If your preference is skinny and/or fit people and you are on the other side of the spectrum, then it's likely going to be very hard to date.

yes but not in the sense that you have to be super muscly or skinny, just that you take care of yourself

as a former fatty who lose half my body weight while on the apps , yes it matters IF you're a bottom

if you're a top you get given a lot more grace with it , but only if you're well-groomed in all other areas . and even then you don't get to be obese , just fat .

if you're a bottom like me , it's game over . your options are to lose the weight like me , date another fat ( although even this is hard , considering most fats refuse to date other fats rip ) or just give up on dating .

im joined those apps weighing 110kgs and it wasn't until i got to 70kgs that im started to get a noticeable amount of attention . at 58kgs my phone was blowing up with matches . you could put it on a line chart , the more weight im lose , the more attention im got .

the sad reality , im fear .. thing

I mean, it depends on what kind of person you're trying to attract. Some people want a person similar to them, others like differences in a partner. Some doors close and other doors open no matter how you decide to present yourself.

Someone is buying what you're selling. As others have said, this has more to do with they type of people YOU want to date.

Everyone cares about looks to some degree whether they admit to themselves or not so yeah, it matters.

Somewhat controversial but i don't get very overweight people losing weight after the break up and suddenly having a "glow up" they brag about as if the reason was their partner. Couldn't you care about yourself when you had a partner if you could? Such a weird flex

you sound like a deeply insecure person

maybe work on that instead

well yes most gays only care abt bodies

so ofc a certain body weight/shape is needed in the gay dating life

No, if you just don't put on weight in the first place, you won't have to lose it again.

unfortunately i feel this way and don't really want to start dating until i lose about 15lbs. skinny is so in now its sad

clack

@Starfish if u have ugly insides it doesnt really matter what u do to the outside

so its a lost cause for u either way

I workout five times a week, but I am also obsessed

I think a lot of people that have the mindset that they need to lose weight in order to find an attractive man don't realise that losing weight isn't gonna fix all your problems… You might end up looking like a skinny little critter! I think fat trade can be sexy but in order to be attractive you need to be, well, attractive! That's not to say the critters can't find love though. The happiest gay relationships I see are usually 2 funny-looking boys that have found each other, which I think is very beautiful. They realise that the path to happiness is to settle and not chase something unattainable for them. I used to be fat as a house and never had any problems finding attractive guys that were attracted to me. I'm skinny as a needle now and do notice I definitely get more attention from men now , so I do think losing weight could expand your options, but if you have no options to begin with then… well. I wish you luck and hope you find what you're looking for <3
