Finally the receipts!

Two years after its release, however, the tide has seemingly finally turned on the controversial opus. The album has had a sticky way of remaining in the pop conversation. Charli's Brat creative director Terrence O'Connor has been loudly revisiting it; underscores played "B.O.A.T" at her FADER cover release party, the video of which went viral; every week there seems to be a new viral defense of it on TikTok. In June, when Cabello shared photos of her working with The National's Aaron Dessner, it sparked a niche but active discourse expressing concern about her "abandoning" the C,XOXO sound. (Fans of the album wouldn't be wrong to respond by noting that the world gave Cabello little indication that she would be rewarded for sticking with it).

If Cabello were to release this album, and these tracks, today, at a moment when the listening public seems to have more tolerance for her messy choices, it could dominate. If you haven't yet given the album a chance, our current pop moment serves as a great impetus to try it again.

It does, B.O.A.T/GODSPEED/Dade County Dreaming were some of the best songs of that year. She took a big creative swing with that record and it paid off imo.

it really doesn't

stop trying to make this corny album happen

Solar Power deserves more grace than this album, and even that doesn't deserve much grace

I kind of always loved how inauthentic it feels as a Camila album. She's wearing someone else's style on her sleeve. CaCa doesn't care and does it anyway. She even hijacks a Drake collab for what should have been a guaranteed hit.

Sure it didn't do as well commercially but for the most part, I actually think it works as an album. He Knows is a banger. The deluxe is also pretty good. It's not boring or generic compared to pop girls more recent efforts.

Naur it's true it's true

"Dade County Dreaming" and "BOAT" are spectacular and should have hundreds of millions of streams

It's much better than some albums that have come after it and received praise, for instance the album by the Canadian seizure enthusiast dancer.

Finally ... C,XOXO Summer

Camila Cabello and the Art of Failing

Genuinely, if this album had not had two Drake features credited on it & come out right after the wake of Kendrick vs Drake, it would've connected with the audience it was meant to reach much easier. That was the last straw that killed the era, though. If not for that: it's not skipless but the highlights are killer

I knew this album would get its "flowers" in due course. Pop fans are just too brain dead to form their own opinions about anything. I Luv It, Chanel no 5, Dade County Dreaming, BOAT are all excellent. This is one of my fave "end of summer" nostalgia albums

I still find it so funny how this solo Drake song is the second-most-streamed song on the album bibliahh

Never understood the negative reception

Like oh let's make fun of the girl who took a risk and put herself out there creatively

Not sure what the agenda is but it doesn't matter how good the music and/or talent is. A lot of people simply don't like her because of her personality. Nicole Scherzinger faces similar issues. Your personality is a selling point and if it's off-putting, people simply don't care how good the material is.

Look at Hilary Duff, not a huge amount of talent but people love her. Hence why she can sell out MSG.

I'm sorry but for as long as I have ears no amount of paid revisionism will convince me that I Luv It was a good song, not now not ever

it has a few cute bops! i don't think we need to reevaluate it as some classic but the initial reception was too harsh
