Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

Featured Replies

So many abhorrent , disgusting comments and an endless amount of p*ssy ass losers downvoting anyone who isn't parroting the same problematic talking point that this is all related to her alleged eating disorder

So many of you should be ashamed of yourselves yet so many of you are nothing more than self righteous dingbat idiots. I hope Ariana takes the time she needs to feel better about being in the public eye , and I hope many of you will take the time to reflect on how your incessant critiques are part of the reason why she feels the need to withdraw so completely from the public eye for a minute. Truly wish nothing but the worst for a lot of you ingrates.

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

She doesn't owe anybody anything to talk about her very personal issues

Well yes I don't combat that. I'm just saying ppl will keep talking about her appearance even after this statement and eventual removal from the public eye.

Maybe it's not an easting disorder. It could be an unexpected side effect from peptides. Oprah Winfrey also has a similar look. They look skinny, but it's an unnatural skinny.

To all Arianators

Not every comment is an attack or comes from a place of hate. A lot of people are expressing genuine concern about Ariana's appearance, whether you agree with it or not. Yes there are cruel body-shaming comments that deserve to be called out. But there's also a large number of people raising concerns because they think she looks unwell. Lumping those two groups together only shuts down any real conversation. Stop dismissing it.

I know you all had friends growing up who could eat anything and not gain any weight. You pair those genetics with a diet like Veganism, Pescatarianism, etc. Of course the person will be thin.

I'm 29 149 lbs at 6'0 my bmi is 20. If I wanted to realistically gain weight I would have to eat really unhealthy. (I'm aware Ms Grande likely has a lower BMI then myself)

Some of us like vegetables with just olive oil and a little salt. Not everyone enjoys fast food, processed foods, baked goods, etc.

Not defending ED at all. Just standing up for those of us who are thin and can't control it.

well she also said something similar when there was this viral cannibalism rumor and she ended up doing a deluxe and a tour anyways

she has been through way worse hate trains i don't think she'll disappear completely

I think this is very much needed.

Regardless of what you think of her appearance, the visual and written commentary in her latest video draws past a very delicate line.

Having ED is one thing, and it's not for people to attack her for. But to body check so openly in the video and then to write commentary that she could "afford to lose weight" is absolutely playing into a triggering ED narrative and I've already seen so many tweets suddenly appear from EDtwt that praise her for it.

That's where it goes beyond acceptable.

Even if you're not fully aware of how badly you have ED, most people who have ED are at least aware and Ariana has a past that has shown she is.

While I absolutely do not believe that it's anyone's business to publicly shame or address her ED to her, there's an awful deflection side to ED where people indirectly or directly encourage other people who have it to keep going or to aim for an even lower weight, to normalise it for themselves and that's effectively what that scene aims to do.

She's encouraging a narrative that is encouraging people who are dangerously thin to keep going. That whole scene should have been cut but they knew what they were doing imo. It was designed to cause controversy.

This is why it's important to never assume someone has ED because you never know.

But her latest video 100% plays into ED narratives, purposely has her body check to showcase her frame; and then purposely comments that she can afford to lose some weight.

I know the whole idea is "she's sick of the criticism" but that scene is effectively designed to send the message that if you're as thin as she is, people out there will say you can afford to lose more weight.

Literally no one who doesn't have an eating disorder is, but it's playing into that mindset and it's a purposeful moment in the video that people with ED feed each other on, and it's what you see in EDtwt and other circles all the time. She knew what she was doing and it's sad to see.

My aunt is like this as well. In our family almost everyone is naturally thin. She's a nutritionist. Pairing up genetics that make her naturally thin with eating extremely healthy has made her look unnaturally thin. Ariana could be in a similar situation.

Reading this thread has really shown how idiotic some of you are. I'm glad Devin stepped in and started serving WPs and bans because y'all are gross in the name of a stan drag.

good for her, she need to take a step back... the poeple "mad" at this wth is wrong with you she is not okay clearly.

I won't say anything cause this situation is making Ariana's fanbase look like Britney's saying "she's totally fine!!!" when clearly everything is wrong.

I hope she heals and focuses on herself.

You can't say you don't want to put the ED narrative on her, but that's literally what you're doing

It takes a lot of courage to walk away from projects tbh I hope she take the rest that she needs and get the help she needs and stay healthy and happy and comeback when she's ready.

I'm glad to hear it clap3 clearly something is going on with her so I hope she takes all the time she needs to take care of herself

Ariana is not naturally this thin. She's been in the public eye almost her entire life and this is NOT her normal body. Let's stop acting like that's the case. A Millionaire entirely has the resources to have hire a chef that could provide a healthy vegan diet that does not result in this (see Billie Eilish).

Not saying this applies to Ariana (clearly I don't know her), but just saying: an obsession with eating "extremely healthy" to the detriment of your health/body can also be a form of ED. It's called orthorexia.

No clue what your aunt's credentials are, but just because some is a nutritionist does not mean they are healthy. Opinions and scientific consensus on nutrition seem to change all the time, and lots of people have conflicting ideas of what constitutes a healthy diet.

Unfortunately I know several women IRL who eat alarmingly small servings of very restrictive groups of "healthy foods" because they are stuck in this type of mindset, and they are literally frail, not healthy. Eating "extremely healthy" should actually focus on building or at least maintaining bone and muscle mass, which are among the most important factors in long term health and aging.

ThreYou're just putting words into my mouth and making it bigger from what it actually is. Let me elaborate in one of the examples I gave. 2014, Demi's vocals were rough, her vocals were struggling from one concert to another, and yet her team made her go on two tours in that same year when she could have been taking a break for her voice wellbeing instead. Did she finish the tours? Yeah. Was it good for her mental health? She looked happy, so I'd say so. Did her vocals need a break anyways? Of course, listening to her every single night was harsh.

So I don't get what's suddenly so bad about wanting someone who looks tired by just standing on stage to take a break from that. Touring is demanding, at all costs, releasing an album is demanding too, and just because she has kept herself on the edge every single time for years by now, doesn't mean that it'll always work like that. Her physical energy has been constantly declining, so I doubt this 'she keeps on working because is good for her recovery' narrative is helping at all, like, it kinda sounds way too convenient for anyone who keeps profiting from her

Girl, who is talking about Demi? As someone who isn't even a fan of Demi's yet who would always defend her and call out how people speak about her online, the comparisons to Ariana just don't make sense to be making them.

(Also this isn't pointed at Demi. I don't expect Demi Lovato to speak up about Ariana, but all of this happening is even further jarring when thinking about all the times Ariana has spoke up for and advocated for others. That she has always wished well for others and preached for kindness with others' struggles and been there for so many other celebrities, yet now when people put a lens on her issues, where is anyone else to speak up for her? To tell the world to be kind? Instead, other celebrities are openly theorizing she's going to die.)

The way you're talking about Ariana doesn't align with the reality of what we know.

This was Ariana last night:

Meanwhile this is what the internet is doing to her now:

HOtcYP6XgAA9JpF?format=jpg&name=large

Gaslighting her fans isn't going to work. No one is denying she's thin. No one is denying her body looks unwell.

But the online mob right now thinking that believing you're doing the right thing means they can be cruel are going to look back and have to face the reality that their cruelty is not the answer that they think it is and anyone who is being cruel needs to own up to that they drove her out of the public eye when all is said and done.

i feel like she's more than ready to throw in the towel

we can tell by how uninspired petal is that she's releasing it just to comply with the "multi-albums" clause in her contract

it's giving rihanna spamming Loud-TTT-Una just so she could release Anti and retire

One of my my favorite documentary channels on YouTube just uploaded a Louis Theroux doc on an anorexia ward. Maybe those who want to learn about the psychology of why they're often convinced they're not sick and why comments like "you look like you're starving" accomplish the exact opposite of what you want should watch it.

Why are we assuming that the people around her haven't already intervened and are just a bunch of "yes men"?

It grinds my gears when people think they know the ins and outs of celebrities' lives, like you do not know these people AT ALL skull
