Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

I'm confused what you think was achieved. What promo schedule did you free her from? This is the issue with projection and not actually understanding what the claimed recovery people allegedly want for her looks like in practice.

The opening night of the tour was filled with the same type of comments that all magically went away when claims about her being likely unable to do the tour never actually became vindicated.

I think people can be concerned but the constant upping of the ante to try and be vindicated does become a form of harassment.

First it's claimed that she's too thin to promote Wicked…and yet she does. Then it's claimed that she must be too sick to actually do the tour…and yet she has delivered on stage every night. So now the claim is escalated to something she can't disprove like being on the verge of death?

What do some of you actually think recovery looks like for someone with an eating disorder? Being strapped to a hospital bed and forced nutrients via an IV? Being forced into a Girl, Interrupted-style psych ward for her own protection? It veers into being so cartoonish that it becomes overtly obvious when the concern isn't realistic to how such issues are actually treated today. Let alone if none of these things manifest, or documented for public consumption to satisfy curiosity, she'll become considered worthy of continued harassment again if she shows up in public not looking as demanded.

Be uncomfortable with how she looks, but own what one's discomfort is making people feel entitled to do. Own that people believe they are entitled to harass her out of public life and her ability to do her life's work cause they believe that's how an eating disorder is treated. Own that they are denying her of the option to work on her mental health by doing her job and passion every day and that be how she's trying to get better. And don't deny that such is what the public at large feel is necessary. Her rep'a statement makes it clear she's leaving the public eye due to "endless, ongoing public scrutiny".

Girl her mental and physical health are more important than an "era"

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

This is probably for the best. Whether or not it kickstarts a change in the situation or a path to recovery, we can only hope. Regardless, this break can surely only be a good thing; regardless of the current physically situation which we cant exactly know for sure, the amount of concern - valid and genuine or otherwise - is probably taxing on her mentally too, so this should give her time away from that and to focus on what matters. It's a very tricky situation but I think it's important to also be as respectful as possible here.

Hopefully whatever outcome comes out of this is the best for her. And that some of her more... uh, chaotic fans are respectful enough to let her enjoy her rest and not ***** and moan about a cancelled era or w/e useless stan stuff.

Attacking a person when they're in a vulnerable state is vile, the lack of empathy some of you are showing is genuinely disturbing.

If this is how you behave online, I can't imagine what you're like in real life.

As someone who has seen their fave burn out multiple times after doing many projects back to back, a break is deserved.

In the past 3 years she released 2 albums + deluxe, 2 soundtracks, planned a tour, starred in 2 movies. It makes non sense to go full into another album era and play.

I hope she is doing okay, and has a good team of people, relatives and friends around her. She is very ambitious, hard-working and strong.

I have nothing to say with regards to the discussion in here (everything has already been said and I don't want to unknowingly say something harmful) other than I am concerned and I wish her the best.

Gotcha. And she dropped out of AHS, a project she signed on to do months ago, due to "scheduling conflicts", right?

It's all very convenient. Read between the lines sister.

This is the conspiracy theory, paranoid mindset that was mentioned.

Do the below... not look like conflicting events to you? No matter what occurs, somehow Ariana is at fault in the world you've created. Ariana signed onto Season 13 in October 2025. The filming was delayed 2 months and was originally meant to be in February 2026. She literally has a previous Ryan Murphy show that she was main billed in yet only appeared in 2 episodes of because of how poorly the logistics of filming his shows occur.

It's always "heads I win, tails Ariana loses".

so many conflicting feelings about this. i think her taking a step back is for the best but i can't help but feel like she has been bullied into hiding for possibly having an illness.

some of the comments ive seen about her have been nightmarish. people acting like her being sick is a moral failure and comparing her body to nasty pictures in the name of "concern" and "activism". mass bullying a random woman you've never met on the internet is not going to cure an illness!

Considering how hard she's been working for literal years, a break is well deserved and I hope she enjoys her time off. heart

The wording in this statement is actually still pretty worrisome, but I do feel this is for the best.

I genuinely wish her the best and hope she gets the help she needs. Aside from trolls that make vile and unfunny comments (like the one on the first page of this very thread), there's a lot of genuine concern being expressed for Ariana right now; people want to see her healthy and happy. I've no doubt her fans will be waiting for her when she returns.

i don't really understand what Ari's fans, which i am one of, expect? we don't exactly know what is going on with ari now (for all we know she is unwell) but I clicked play on "petal" MV and i truly felt horrified and alarmed for her behalf. whether she acknowledges it or not, she is clearly very unwell and i sincerely hope this surely very painful moment of intense scrutiny is worth it in the long run.

I saw someone say she was wearing prosthetics to accentuate her bones... its time to take a cold hard look at what's really going on here.

While I'm glad that she's taking a break, my hope is that the desire to continue the tour isn't solely for economical reasons, but because they genuinely think there's no health risk to her continuing on.

A PR team isn't going to confirm an artist's health status unless they have to, especially when there's a multi-million dollar tour associated with it. While I think it's delusional to believe that her break is solely due to public perception and not her personal issues, I do think those two things are closely linked.

Didn't she lose her grandma in this time span as well? :( And a breakup for a relationship that already received scrutiny. She hasn't had time to breathe in a long time

You're just putting words into my mouth and making it bigger from what it actually is. Let me elaborate in one of the examples I gave. 2014, Demi's vocals were rough, her vocals were struggling from one concert to another, and yet her team made her go on two tours in that same year when she could have been taking a break for her voice wellbeing instead. Did she finish the tours? Yeah. Was it good for her mental health? She looked happy, so I'd say so. Did her vocals need a break anyways? Of course, listening to her every single night was harsh.

So I don't get what's suddenly so bad about wanting someone who looks tired by just standing on stage to take a break from that. Touring is demanding, at all costs, releasing an album is demanding too, and just because she has kept herself on the edge every single time for years by now, doesn't mean that it'll always work like that. Her physical energy has been constantly declining, so I doubt this 'she keeps on working because is good for her recovery' narrative is helping at all, like, it kinda sounds way too convenient for anyone who keeps profiting from her

I hope this starts her endless vacation era now like Dua but without literally any work. I wonder if she even knows how to do a proper vacation, she's been working non-stop since 2013. I just want her to be happy. She's given us enough for years to come heart2

Okay girl, go get some rest and be healthy. I guess she doesn't want to talk about whatever is going on with her health and her PR team is happy to continue pushing the "she is healthy" lie to defend the tour.

not just PR team, her family and or her fans enabling it is soooo....

The statement does indeed read more as "ok if you don't like how I look, I'll disappear" rather than "I'll focus on my well-being/health" but maybe we're just being nitpicky over a basic PR statement that isn't meant to give out full details in the first place.

What really sucks is that the conversation won't end unless she reveals full details about what caused her to lose so much weight which is absurd to think about. It's such a ****** situation indeed.

She doesn't owe anybody anything to talk about her very personal issues

I think what's getting lost in this conversation is that people are treating it as if there are only two options: either you're bullying Ariana, or you're pretending nothing is wrong. Reality is a lot more nuanced than that.

I don't think most people who expressed concern were rooting for her to disappear or demanding she be pulled from work. I think they were looking at someone they've watched for over a decade and saying, "I hope she's okay." That's a very human reaction.

At the same time, I also think some people crossed a line. When concern turns into constant body commentary, speculation, or feeling entitled to updates on someone's health, it stops being concern and starts becoming another form of pressure.

But here's where I disagree with the narrative that she's being "bullied into taking time away." Taking time away isn't a punishment. It's not an admission that the internet was right. And it certainly shouldn't be viewed as people "winning."

Sometimes the healthiest thing anyone can do, celebrity or not, is step back from an environment that has become overwhelmingly loud. If her team genuinely believes the relentless scrutiny is affecting her well-being, then taking a break is a reasonable response. That doesn't mean every person who voiced concern is responsible for it, nor does it mean every comment made about her body was justified.

The internet has a habit of collapsing every opinion into the loudest extremes. Genuine concern gets lumped in with harassment. Harassment gets defended as "just caring." Neither is helpful. The truth is, we don't know what's going on. We don't know if she's perfectly healthy. We don't know if she's struggling. We don't know if stepping away is about her health, the scrutiny, burnout, or simply wanting a break after an incredibly demanding year.

What we do know is that someone can be exceptionally talented, fulfill every professional obligation, and still need help. High-functioning has never been the same thing as thriving. Hopefully, whatever this break looks like for Ariana, it's one where she's surrounded by people who care more about her as a person than as a headline.
