I'm confused what you think was achieved. What promo schedule did you free her from? This is the issue with projection and not actually understanding what the claimed recovery people allegedly want for her looks like in practice.

The opening night of the tour was filled with the same type of comments that all magically went away when claims about her being likely unable to do the tour never actually became vindicated.

I think people can be concerned but the constant upping of the ante to try and be vindicated does become a form of harassment.

First it's claimed that she's too thin to promote Wicked…and yet she does. Then it's claimed that she must be too sick to actually do the tour…and yet she has delivered on stage every night. So now the claim is escalated to something she can't disprove like being on the verge of death?

What do some of you actually think recovery looks like for someone with an eating disorder? Being strapped to a hospital bed and forced nutrients via an IV? Being forced into a Girl, Interrupted-style psych ward for her own protection? It veers into being so cartoonish that it becomes overtly obvious when the concern isn't realistic to how such issues are actually treated today. Let alone if none of these things manifest, or documented for public consumption to satisfy curiosity, she'll become considered worthy of continued harassment again if she shows up in public not looking as demanded.

Be uncomfortable with how she looks, but own what one's discomfort is making people feel entitled to do. Own that people believe they are entitled to harass her out of public life and her ability to do her life's work cause they believe that's how an eating disorder is treated. Own that they are denying her of the option to work on her mental health by doing her job and passion every day and that be how she's trying to get better. And don't deny that such is what the public at large feel is necessary. Her rep'a statement makes it clear she's leaving the public eye due to "endless, ongoing public scrutiny".

The music industry can be pretty toxic. All those legends we lost, Mariah had that breakdown during the early 2000s, Gaga being depressed during artpop, Ari having issues since the attack on he tour, Britney post 2007.

It confirms her emaciated and gaunt appearance wasn't the public's imagination. Whether it's from exhaustion, stress, or disordered eating, pushing herself on a world tour in that condition can't be easy.

Public speculation / scrutiny ≠ bullying. The indifference and gaslighting from her team, sycophant fans, and even Ariana herself is not helpful or honest. Sunday in the Park was rumored to not go ahead months ago because the theater was unable to figure out the logistics of the ticket sales due to her celebrity, let alone the issues with fans in the theatre, at the side of the theatre after wanting to meet her, etc.

This was already a rumor on musical theatre forums for months with the venue thinking it was going to have to build its very own ticket selling system to avoid resellers, with other British female actors receiving inquires about possibly replacing her and leaving Jonathan in the other role if her celebrity was going to be too big of an issue.

That's literally why tickets were delayed three times and still haven't gone on sale.

If a break is what she needs then I hope it's a beautiful and fulfilling break. The statement dancing around the topic is a bit strange, but who cares really.

I've just seen AG Stans on twitter moaning about the cancellation of her theatre show and the fact they won't get more videos from AG8..... it is sickening to see how little some fans care for her. She is not Ashley O hooked up to the machine for your entertainment!!!

But at the end of the day, they're representing her and aren't going to make unauthorized statements on their own behalf that didn't come from her. They gave us the truth, which is that the scrutiny has gotten to her and made her want to take a step back. We don't really know the details of what she might be going through.

I doubt this is gonna last long since she's probably contractually obligated to promote Focker-in-Law… this is still a great first step though, hopefully she takes this time to get better

Well, I hope she realized she needs help and treatment asap and will take the necessary steps to better health.

With ari, I have this intuition that how she presents is a performance that's a huge disjuncture to who she really is as a person. She assumes a very charming persona in the public eye.

True of most celebrities but it feels somehow more pronounced with her. That's why it leaves people quizzical about her life choices sometimes.

None of this matters more than her health and happiness rn of course. Wish her the very best of peace and happiness.

It's so unusual of her to step out of a project, let alone two. It's sad to see that people are actually getting to her but it was inevitable, she's human and she's been dealing with way too much and it seems to never stop. People have no compassion whatsoever when it comes to her, they've always treated her like a doll and they still do.

I hope she goes into hiding for a couple of years and gets better whatever she's going through. As a longtime fan I just hope she's fine and I don't feel the need to know what's wrong if something's wrong. I just hope she's okay. It's sad that Petal's release is always going to be such a negative memory for her, I think that dumbass of Jameela Jamil was the icing on the cake, one thing is haters and the press and another is your own colleagues.

No because when you lay it out like this, it really depicts how the goalpost has moved every time

Anything to be proven right instead of the (understandable) assessments of her physical appearance being enough that she's struggling with something
