Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

Featured Replies

This is one of the cases where it's probably for the best that bullying worked. She was looking visibly unwell and if this is what it took for someone to put their foot down and intervene then so be it.

Also the wording in the press release makes it seem like Ariana is still in denial/her team don't want to confirm/deny the ED which is fair but for gods sake get this girl some help and let her rest. She's been working nonstop for the last 7-8 years.

I love her so much and I'm rooting for her and praying for her good health. We will always be there for her whenever she's ready to be back in the public eye.

Girl her mental and physical health are more important than an "era"

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

I hope she gets the help she needs. Anorexia causes irreversible damage to the organs.

I'm confused on the discourse of this, at least from what I've seen on twitter. Coming from a longtime fan since she debuted, I'm genuinely concerned for her health and seeing how she is now. It's not just her business since she is a very public figure and looks like she is clearly going through a lot and a health crisis. But I also see how people are bullying her and making jokes which is disgusting, and they clearly don't care about her.

She clearly needs some time away from all of this though, and I truly hope she gets better and heals. She deserves it.

I think I was totally misunderstood and what I meant and I've removed my post. I have made other posts where what I am very concerned about is that the people around her like her record label seem to be totally not caring about her well-being by allowing this type of music video to go out. I've seen many cases of women in Hollywood who are under extreme pressure to be thin and this is a systemic issue, Ariana herself is in no way at fault here. Basically what I'm trying to get is that Hollywood creates these insane expectations and pressures, women like Ariana then fall victim to it, and then thesystem discards them.

I think this is probably a good thing overall and I hope she takes all the time she needs.

I also hope this doesn't vindicate the "activists" online and make them think harassing someone suspected of an ED is the right thing to do. The general conversation and (genuine) concern about it is inevitable, but people have been taking it way too far. There is nothing strangers can do to help someone in a situation like this. It's not even that easy for people that actually know the person.

Good. We wish her well clap3

Some of you clutching your pearls in here though rip she is CLEARLY sick and CLEARLY not doing well, she needs to get help, you're insane if you can't see that

y'all are very stupid people, full offense.

The timing of this statement is a bit odd, a random Sunday.. I feel like they might be preparing for her to cancel the rest of her tour

Hope everyone that was sooo 'concerned' about her health is happy now, making the day 1 of her album release so unbearable that she had to take a step back and disappear rip

I have been biting my tongue way too long on this topic, but the fact that so many of you guys think that the cure to an ED (if she even has one - we don't know why her weight and physical appearance changed and likely never will) is to just start eating food again or that insulting how she looks will suddenly wake her up says all you need to know.

i dunno what's going on behind closed doors, but i do hope she is well and this break from public life is helpful for her.

btw - making a person who has an ED feel like **** and constantly criticising them just makes their ED worse and worsens their appetite

I am genuinely relieved to hear this news and hope she gets some well deserved rest so that she can focus on her. We love her and she's done so much for the fans already. Sending her nothing but love and light while streaming petal on rotation

people that ran in here to say "congrats bullies, are you happy now ??!" are just as parasocial and damaging as the weirdos using this to hate on her

The woman is sick, why do some of you think banning any talk of it or acting like she's healthy any better? and why are you even mad that she's finally taking a deserved break to focus on her physical and mental health? There's no world where this is normal or healthy, saying otherwise is just delusional and borderline dangerous

stan world is just straight up disgusting now on both ends

Please get PERMA banned.

Going on a break a day after releasing an album is strange, and probably due to the horrible comments she is receiving about her health but at the same time it was obvious this video would cause a lot of reactions. That said people are stupid and hateful, Ariana knows her struggles more than anyone else and hating on her for a disease is sick. I hope she can get better in the coming months/years !!

People have worked to effectively run her off of social media and then out now of public spaces.

People will likely take the wrong message - she was rumored to be dropping out of Sunday in the Park for months now - and think their harassment-as-concern campaigned worked until she's seen again in public and harassed further if she doesn't magically appear visually any differently.

All while unaware that Petal is a reaction to the unrelenting criticism and ostracism projected onto her parasocially.

People who invented a conspiracy that she destroyed someone else's marriage and didn't believe her when she directly said that wasn't the case, because they don't take her at her word, aren't actually invested in the idea of her health.

Misogynists and self hating women love Ariana

thank god. these last few days are really rough as a fan of her, she needs to just protect her peace

I'm of two kinds on this. I think she deserves to have a break and do what she wants, especially if she agreed to too much and can't do it all.

However this feels… forced. I don't think people who are recovering from something or battling an illness should be shunned from public life and their work- if they still want to do it. The same things happen to overweight people, or famous people who drastically gain weight. It always sounds like "this makes us uncomfortable so it's best if you are out of our view" and that feels gross to me.

I feel so sorry for her, and I’m glad she’s getting to take some needed time away from the public eye. I hope she has a strong support system around her

This is great clap3Hopefully there's not much touring left to be done so she can focus on her health asap
