Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

Featured Replies

Generally people should keep it to themselves about their thoughts on others appearance, it's non of their business. But with public figures, who have implicit influence over millions, things get more muddy.

Girl her mental and physical health are more important than an "era"

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

Majority of the comments I've seen online are about being concerned, of course there will always be some stupid people leaving hate comments but in this case those are a minority.

That's a lie otherwise I wouldn't see tweets calling her a skeleton get 100k likes. Or on here, jokes about her on threads not even about her like Tyla on Feeding Starving Celebrities to use her plight for a laugh. Blame those people, not the fans who are actually concerned about her and know that you don't help anyone dealing with mental illness by bullying them out of it.

I think the album getting panned is also motivating this, she was under a lot of scrutiny during ES + the homewrecking incident and she didn't abandon ship

This is positions all over again

I would advise listening to the album to understand the contempt and hatred Ariana has for brain-rotted conspiracies like the one in your post, fyi.

Even when getting your way, you still won't take her at her word.

Well of course she's gonna hate people for calling her out and telling her that it's not healthy to be that skinny, that's what anorexia does to the brain.

this is good. regardless if she's suffering from anorexia or not , it's obvious something may be wrong and for her sake, mentally and physically it's best to do this. the more appearances she makes the more people are going to scrutinize her and if she is suffering from an eating disorder, which is none of our business, heavy touring when she is so weak would be too much for her. i hope she gets the help that she needs.

If she's indeed going though an ED, that's the best option. I hope she gets treated and feels better.

Also, while i think there's legit concerning from some stans, i don't think it helps to point out the obvious issue. She has a strong support system around her and resources to help her out on anything. If there's something wrong, she'll get help and the best way to do it is out of the spotlight. Scrutiny and people making fun of her body doesn't help one bit... actually, it made it worse. Ever since people started to point out how skinny she is, she started to lose even more weight. We don't know how that works for her and maybe people are doing more harm than good on that matter.

Hopefully she'll be healed soon.

You're filling in the blanks with pure speculation to prop up your conspiracy

What "conspiracy"? If you've known/dealt with loved ones who have addictions or EDs, it's a pretty common experience for them to begrudgingly accept to get help even if they don't think they have the problem everyone says they do. From the few things Ariana has said about her health, it doesn't seem like she thinks her weight is a problem. We can only hope that she starts getting treatment and realizes that it was the right thing to do.

Not some of you trying to act obtuse when you've been calling her "homewreckiana" and "anorexiana" since the Wicked promo began.

You have bullied her consistently for her character, lifestyle, choices, and her health and you know who you are.

I'm tired of Shakira's fans they are so annoying and most of them are in their 30s or 40s lol.

This was rumoured a while ago so I'm not surprised. The backlash about her appearance since the tour started obviously only added to the desire for time away. I hope her break is restful and she has some good support around her because she's clearly in a dark place right now - you only have to listen to her speak about using the album to channel her anger.

Folks here pretending there's nothing wrong going on right now are just as weird as the Internet mob. I hope she gets the help she clearly needs.

This. There's a lot of awful and hateful rhetoric directed at her right now, but I also see a lot of her true fans being genuinely concerned — with good reason. I hope she will take some time to get help or get healthy rather than just taking time out of the spotlight because of online backlash.

You have no idea or evidence that she is not currently getting help or whether if she has been in years of treatment.

You're epitomizing that none of this is about actual concern because there's little thought to how "care" looks in practice.

You've imagined a scenario now where you're going to demand the next time she's seen in public that she magically look completely different, and is then worthy of your further criticism and scrutiny if she's not.

I said not even two months ago in that TMZ breakup thread that people talk about her in the most unhinged and invasive ways and the past 48 hours have proven that in abundance. Happy she's going to step back after tour, gutted she's not doing the show now I really wanted to see her and Jonathan in that but would never fault her for needing to step away from it.

I think this is the best decision for her mental and physical health

I don't want to add to the online discourse around her but I find it all very sad, and I hope she gets to a better place

No, I'm just talking about the impression the statement gives. These kinds of statements are revised and approved before they go out and People is an outlet that only releases things from celebrities' real teams. The fact that the article ends with the insistence that Ariana is physically healthy makes it obvious that someone still doesn't want to blatantly say she's got an illness.

congrats you guys, now every young girl who is suffering from an ED will magically be cured

First of all, you're assuming you know what Ariana thinks about her health based on a handful of public statements and very limited public information. That's speculation.

Second, you're presenting her being forced into treatment and being in denial as the most likely explanation, even though the statement doesn't support those conclusions. Nothing in it suggests she was forced into treatment or that she's in denial. You're twisting the statement to fit a version of events you've imagined happened behind the scenes. Again, that's speculation.

You don't KNOW if she's got an illness or not. Please stop defending your pre-determined reality of your OWN making, you are not being productive by questioning verified sources. This is not helping anybody at all.

This is genuinely heartbreaking cause many of us have grown up with her:(

I just hope that she gets her happy ending even if that means saying goodbye to the publicchick3

i hope she thrives with a well deserved break, she has nothing left to prove..this cespool of freaks online will never be satisfied until they see her break so that they can feel like they were right about the delusions they conjured up about her.

having to endure these past two albums and movies with constant public scrutiny is exhausting and i don't blame her if she wants to stop altogether ..also shows how much this administration ruined every single social media platform and turned them so toxic.

No. She started getting hyper scrutinized during Wicked promotion because since it was a blockbuster movie, she was doing a massive amount of contractural promotion . It started the massive public discourse about her weight.

This hyper scrutiny continued with her current tour and album cycle.

Totally get it for her, it's impressive how she just powers through the challenges, backlash and personal stuff. I hope she comes back feeling rested mentally and physically, stronger and healthier
