All Im responding to that is: Have you EVER seen documentaries on people with ED? I guess no.

People with ED are often highly functional individuals that aspire to achieve greatness and/or attention. Its not like an ED suddenly makes one incapable of delivering. Its usually that in their bodydismorphia and wrong relationship to food, stress and their bodies, they push themselves so much that their organs basically start to fail. Its an incredibly dangerous disease.

To think shes ok because shes performing greatly is such a naive take.

Trust, the moment she faints on or off stage, itll be almost too late.

This is what is annoying me the most about it currently. She is not the only person affected by the messaging and imagery she is clumsily trying to navigate in her work. People who have actually supported her throughout her career haven't done anything to deserve this. With everything she's been put under fire for, rightfully so or not, we have given her the benefit of the doubt every time. Her stans think this is another one of those times.

Because she's on this tour, releasing music and merch and these people are already financially and emotionally invested in her, they feel as if they have to deal with her acting irresponsibly and again, give her the benefit of the doubt, even when it is to their own detriment.

The sign that someone is not well is when they decide they need to make the pain communal. It is almost unsettling to see her behaving so normally as if this isn't the most insane thing that her fan community has had to go through at her behest. I am really struggling with it myself and I feel empathy for you and anyone else who is.

Can we pls change the title? How is it "criticism" if it's all "people's concern" about her health?

I really do think that a lot of you guys have never struggled with an eating disorder, and I hope that you never do because the way that people say that they're "expressing concern" is not at all helpful, it's not spreading any awareness, and i doubt it's impacted any of Ariana's decisions. Tbh it's really just amounting to harassment of this woman, im so sick of this smug commentary thats become the popular narrative that people are just concerned and that "we (they) aren't allowed to talk about it." it's sensationalist nonsense and no matter what intention it comes from, it's truly the problem even more than any issues ariana might be dealing with. and before anyone starts im not a stan, im just empathetic towards an imperfect human being who is being held to perfect inhuman standards. this is, in a greater sense, a commentary on internet culture at large and the way we are cruel to ourselves and others in the name of "health and fitness" and i think people need to reflect on their own contribution to this phenomenon separately from their opinions on ariana grande or her situation. it's much deeper than her and it says everything about the way many people view other people's bodies and feel comfortable commenting on them.

I didn't want to say anything, but now that she's confirmed it I just want to say that anyone who thought she was literally cancelling a job because of online hate was being delusional. Celebs (or regular folks for that matter) don't skip on a cheque unless they genuinely need the break for whatever reason. Blaming online toxicity for her dropping out of that show was so weird to me.

I like how she adressed it and that she's taking some time off for herself.

Great that she's aknowledging that she's taking some time away because that's just how things were planned, and not because she was 'bullied into doing so' as so many people tried to claim in the other thread

a break after the tour was prob pre-planned but her pulling out of Sunday in the Park was a double whammy to the statement her team made, and must mean she's simply exhausted.

I'm curious if she'll do press in November for the Fockers movie

I feel like her break wasn't supposed to be announced right now. There is no way she planned for a break so soon when she was preparing to release a new album, and she had other stuff planned too. It looks like neither her nor her team have expected the outrage caused by her appearance in her latest music video. I honestly don't understand how her team approved to release the music video with her looking so weak & fragile. Hopefully she can heal and work on herself away from the public eye.

For a lot of the main pop girls, the subreddits by their name are captured by mods and people who just goon after them, rather than discussions about their music. Hence we have subreddits like r/ariheads, r/SabrinaCarpenterFans etc.

However the hate she gets is uncalled for. But that is separate to people being genuinely concerned for her health

She did lose weight and became extremely thin just like Ariana when she wears the black outfit in the video, and it still wasn't enough for Hollywood, and she died at the same age Ariana is now.
