Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

Featured Replies

She definitely planned this break months in advance. When you're a pop star/celebrity of her caliber there are alot of jobs behind you. All that machinery takes time to bring to a stop

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

She is neither a product nor a machine. She is a human being clearly fighting her demons atm. All we could possible hope for is for her to defeat these demons. Youve got 8 (?) albums to go back to + 2 Soundtracks. Listen to those, be happy they exist and wish her the best. Just like you and me, she deserves to be healthy.

"Struggling heavily" "fighting her demons" ***** where?

Is she breaking down on stage like Amy or chasing paparazzi like Britney? No, she's performing greatly every night and releasing good music which SHE wrote.

Like she said, the world is projecting and she needs boundaries cause y'all freaks can't stop talking ****.

A couple of years ago, y'all were dragging people who commented that fat people were unhealthy but now it's okay to talk about someone's body?

maybe we've all said our piece now and expressed our concern. let's let her finish the tour (one more month?) without endless criticism and hope the break is specifically to help her work on her health?

the weird statement implying all is fine and pretending this was pre-planned aside, she's just doing what any PR person would do and downplaying concerns and mitigating anything that might harm her career. she's under no obligation to speak about her health/body publicly.

I hope this means that she is committing to getting help and treatment, because I can guarantee that she will not like what she sees when she rewatches the Petal MV in a few years.

Literally everybody who isn't a terminally-online Arianator can recognize that there's an issue and that what we're seeing isn't right. I swear her own fanbase is plotting against her or something. They care more about music videos & content than whether their fave lives or dies, and it drives them crazy to see an ounce of a response that isn't "Love this! More of this!"

clack

"Multiple things can be true at once"' does sound like a tacit admission that all isn't well with her.

But whatever the reason for this break, may she come back stronger and healthier (mentally or physically) than ever.

The conjecture is so boring. These people don't know what is the right response to their fave having an episode in front of them. You expect people to see and come to the right conclusion immediately and your make believe know-it-all works in this medium because we don't have a microscope to your life, brain or feelings. We erode the nuance because we can juannywhenever we want about people we feel are beneath us. Best of luck trying to live a meaningful life with this approach but I'm sure the dopamine spike you felt typing that out was worth it.

The petal music video is disgusting. It is harmful. There is going to be a larger reckoning about this in the future that Ariana is not going to register until probably too late because she's eroding the space around her for the sake of making an artistic statement that has clearly not landed, and yet we still have to engage with the content, buy the variants, track the streaming performance while people that have always hated her and her fans get to take moral victory laps because they got what they wanted. They drove her to a literal madness that is actively harming both her and her community.

So no, *****, her fans at the opposite end of a psychological power imbalance are not the issue. The decision makers around her and primarily Ariana herself are at fault for what is happening currently.

Question; Because if amy winehouse was going through something and we all turned a blind eye, we would regret not caring and speaking up right?

So why should we not care and speak up about Ariana? Isn't it smart to make sure we bring awareness

Many people were concerned about Amy Winehouse and voiced that at the time. It's almost like the public scrutiny and speculation did nothing to help her

I'm happy for her personally and hope she does whatever she needs to do during her break, and that's her business, I'm glad she sounds positive (and the Album is peak af)

I think she's able to step out of the conversation and that should be respected atp.

But I think there's just so many people now, and different communities and off-shoots of people that this kinda "pop culture news" reaches. That's such an overwhelming idea, everyone and everything just becomes noise and then a monolith that can just crush someone completely, the online world is scary and the way it ripples into everyday makes it more intense too

I think people aren't ready to casually and then properly participate in these kind of nuanced conversations, never has been, maybe on niche boards but then it's usually around someone (cause pop forum) and here we are with this weird situation with Ari that's happened

I'm truly rambling but this all has kinda triggered me in my own way with ED struggles and it's been interesting to observe people on Reddit and general online spaces, it's been surreal

TLDR: we should talk about these kinda topics but not solely scrutinising a singular pop star, we show empathy and instead scrutinising the culture

Ugh

So it was preplanned but yet the statememt her team put out said it was due to public backlash? Okay...

To be fair, I've read posts about the album were being deleted by mods in her sub. A lot of alt ones exist that fans migrated to this era.

You're probably a regular poster in that Snark page.

I will admit, that's a much more nuanced & empathetic perspective than I gave it, and I agree that it's her inner circle that should be blamed more than anybody. It's just maddening to go online and see this constant back-and-forth on social media (mainly Twitter) of somebody being concerned at the Petal video, or photos from tour, or whatever, and her fans immediately slamming and gaslighting them, in addition to making carefully-selected comparison posts to 'prove' that she looks the same as she always has, and making posts about how people ruined the Petal era by talking about this. It feels very selfish on surface-level read-throughs ducky

I'm scared for her, but we don't know what's going on, and it's wrong to speculate while also cracking jokes and wagging the finger.

She could have some sort of condition that is otherwise being managed.

Concern only matters if it's genuine.

All I know is I would like her to be around for a long time, and she deserves that. I hope she takes the time she needs to be well, whatever that looks like for her.

I never called her looks disgusting. I literally pointed out that shes probably weighing 40kg atm, which is concerning. All I did was emphasize that people should focus on her health and well-being and nothing else, cause that battle (ED) is a battle for a lifetime.

Well Communion's attack on you didn't age well considering Ari's new statement. Shocking lol

Some people here clearly aren't very smart and believe every PR line word for word that they're fed

I can only mirror what others have said about the subject, which has always been my stance, that really her health is her business and even though I give most people the benefit of the doubt in assuming their concerns for her health are voiced in goodwill, it's likely not constructive in the grand scheme of things. I think what she said was pretty positive, I take from this that maybe she and her team and her personal circle have perhaps privately addressed some of the concerns online and she's right that boundaries need to be set about her body and health and I hope she genuinely enjoys her time off and relaxes because she more than deserves it. I can't remember a moment in time since she blew up that she wasn't working on a project or promoting an album or wasn't prominent in the zeitgeist, so she really really deserves this time off and I hope she enjoys it. And I'll be anticipating her return when she wants to come back. heart
