Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'

Featured Replies

Question; Because if amy winehouse was going through something and we all turned a blind eye, we would regret not caring and speaking up right?

So why should we not care and speak up about Ariana? Isn't it smart to make sure we bring awareness

We really need a ZTP for these kinds of comments. This is getting really inappropriate and downright offensive.

Amy was primarily made the butt of jokes right before she passed

I love her so much. I'm so glad to hear her express love and joy about her fans, making music and performing because that's the purity that all the other noise shouldn't have to contaminate.

interesting ryan2 "many things can be true," "boundaries need to be set," I quite like what she's saying here. I think at the end of the day, what's happening with her health is really her business but yeah I double down on what I said yesterday that it's not criminal of us or even nefarious of us to express some concern as long as we do it productively. there's a hint of optimism to her voice in the posted video that makes me think that she's well aware of her situation and likely has it more under control than certain people may think she does. I believe in her. I think that even though the Petal music video deserves some of the backlash in several layers for her portrayal, it's her career at the end of the day and this upcoming break is the best thing she could possibly do right now. I have faith that things'll work out. I'm not gonna treat her like a "beyond the point of no return" Amy Winehouse sort of tragedy atp. I'm glad to see this video and ultimately I'm glad she said what she said there clap3

Awe, she's really a sweetheart. Finish the tour out strong and take your break queen! We'll be waiting for you whenever you're ready to come backheart2

No, Ariana. They want to see you falling on stage. Fragile. Gasping for air.

They don't want to hear you speaking about a pre-planned break that was made from a healthy place and telling everyone that boundaries are needed.

...Vin

I hope she pulls through whatever it is she might be going through and that she has and feels all the support she needs.

I don't care what people say is true, say is true
Won't break, can't shake, this fate, rewrite

Deep breaths, tight chest, life, death, rewind"

Ariana & Amy are two very different instances.

I'd like to say something as someone who also suffers from an ED and I recognize it in her as well. The jokes and hate and vile things said about her disguised as concern is just wrong. She is sick, yes, but at the end of the day I can tell you no amount of randoms online voicing concern, or worse sending hatred, is going to "help her". Anorexia is a selfish and blinding disease and the only one who can help her is herself when she wants to. I really think she just needs to be left alone.

Do you think that concern from parasocial strangers embedded with truly heinous and disgusting comments is helpful? I mean that as a genuine question.

If I was going through something or not, being scrutinized so much regardless if people are "concerned" or not would make me feel so insecure. People saying my body should or should not be a certain way, just making me hyper aware of it.

It reminds me of Chadwick Boseman when something was clearly wrong with him and the final major narrative before his passing was how frail and awful he looked, then he passed and suddenly everyone was always such a big fan and worried. It's all such bullsh*t imo.

I think a big lesson society should learn is to mind their own business and pay closer attention to your loved ones and close community. There's no need to project such awful narratives onto people you don't know, celebrity or not.

Love this woman. So powerful, strong and inspiring. What a blessing it is to have her alive at the same time as me.

Wishing her the absolute best, and when/if she decides to return to the spotlight, I'll be waiting with open arms and a racing heart heart2

I hope she's okay :(

did you not listen to the video??

Also 25% of deaths from anorexia are from suicide. I hope people remember that when they want to speak unfairly about someone they don't know.

Hope this doesn't come off as inappropriate (and please feel free to let me know if I'm overstepping) but I'm sending you love and positivity as you navigate it all hughard

my guess is that "multiple things can be true at once" is her silent acknowledgment that her / her family / her team / etc. have broached the ED subject. as a longtime fan, i don't think i'm alone in noticing phases over the years of a strange relationship with food, etc., including her popularity in ED spheres a decade(+) ago (ex: tumblr). to deny that there isn't a health/ED problem here means you have to take the stan goggles off.

it's very clear that something is wrong - not only her health, but the barrage of hate just for being too skinny / glinda voice / cynthia friendship / the affair allegations / etc. have been a severely disproportionate. but it's very obvious that a lot of ""concern"" - including on here - is NOT in good faith, and she's been the butt of some vile jokes. but there is 100% a problem, and this is the best thing for her right now.

best case scenario: the problem is being acknowledged, time away from the public will be spent recovering from constant harassment (both about and not about this) and pursuing treatment for recovery, and this was pre-planned and she isn't doing this as a reaction to lukewarm album reception and bodyshaming. i'm inclined to believe this was pre-planned, as the delay of Sunday In The Park With George a little while back was definitely a result of her dropping out.

Not preplanned at all.

We had to cancel a Royal Albert Hall concert and special that was already paid for.

I admire her so much for not letting the negativity break her spirit. All these years (not just even recently) she has been berated, torn down, and mocked since she debuted...she has nerves of steel. Whatever she is struggling with, she will work it out on her own terms as always.

Love her sm and wishing her a peaceful, healing break. I'm glad she's not letting the negativity ruin her feelings toward Petal (which is a great album). I hope releasing this album was a cathartic exhale for her. She deserves this break.
