This is crazy and the situation is escalating quickly.

Italy is asking for the suspension of Spain from the Schengen Agreement.

I'm sorry but this is where Spain (and quite frankly the EU) needs to put their foot down. This is unacceptable. I'm aware that this has been orchestrated by Morocco to pressure Spain (as Pedro had a

These areas were taken from Morocco, and since these bits of land are in the EU. They have full entry into the EU, with all applicable laws. If Spain gives this land back, there will be no place of entry into the EU.

Exactly. If they were women and kids, I would've supported them but not these grown ass men

Damn. Only young men. This is disgusting. Not women. Not elderly people. Young men. Nothing worse than men. And to make it even worse, they're also young. Jesus.

Well tbf Ceuta, Melilla, Canary Islands, and some other pieces of land in North Africa were taken forcibly by the Spanish and Portuguese, so both are in the blame here. Idk why Spain even wanted bits of land from North Africa. They've been occupying these cities since the 1400s rip

It's obvious that this has been orchestrated though.

Do you have any info on this? Spain has been one of the few european countries whose leader has resisted the wave of right-wing immigrant demonizing Trump populism washing over the western world, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is true.

We call them harragas, they're bums who do nothing all day. I'm surprised Morocco wants to take them back usually they're not wanted by their country or Europe

Maybe Europe isn't as progressive as they told me here. Also, every Reddit thread about this Ceuta situation is now packed with Europeans complaining about immigrants and people from the third world like me. Yet they're the same people saying Argentina is the most racist-hateful country in the world. So what is the truth..........

I am certain a deal can be made... if the UK returns Gibraltar to Spain. <3

The problem is the lack of coordination. Also, Europe has 700 million inhabitants... did you read 700 million reddit comments?

generalizations are never smart. And in Europe... immigrants are not raped and shot in the head like in the USA... that alone makes Europe more humane than that 3rd world nation you cited.

And... Italy is not a good example... it is my understanding that Meloni is indeed a fascist. Her post was to rile up her own base... because there is no legal way to throw Spain out of Schengen. She knows that. What a dumb cow that woman is.

And the entirety of North America were taken from indegenous people. What's your point?

How far back do you want to go...? Germany and France were 1 nation for like 800 years. Finland was Russian for a couple hundred years as well.

I'm from a developing country where most people dream of leaving because life can be very difficult-sketchy here.
That's why, as someone from the developing world from the southern hemisphere of the planet, I understand why so many people are so desperate to find a better life. Sometimes the opportunities in the third world are extremely limited and the danger and so many things just go wrong for everyone. At the same time, it's obvious that immigration isn't all sunshine and roses. There are also complex issues that come with it. From side and side Some issues no one talks about*

Personally, I'd love for us to be able to have open discussions about immigration including people from both developed and developing countries exchangin ideas—topics like crime in our nations, lack of integration and xenophobia in developed societies, and whether immigration is more accessible to wealthier people and more...... so many things

I think those conversations could lead to some really valuable insights-points. Unfortunately, I know that's probably not possible because some people will let their aggression and assumptions take over and ruin the discussion emofish
i honestly feel like talkin about controversial issues is really hard. Theres no safe spaces for it todaygiraffe

Immigration caused the return of Nazism in my country of Germany. (espcially in the East where there isn't even widespread immigration).

I am one of those green-left lunatics who thinks that borders are stupid and everyone has the right to live wherever they want.

The biggest issue in Europe is that no government is really going all in and spending the money needed so that immigration can work.

Refugees for example are not allowed to work in Germany... German language courses are underfunded... only 10% of all immigrants can attend courses... and then they are all grouped together in small areas = conflicts arise.

Why are the governments so unwilling to integrate refugees and immigrants? Because there are a lot of dumb, dumb, extremely xeniphobic people in all the countries... and the moment a government would welcome people and be humane they would be chased out of the government and some lunatic far right hardcore Nazis (like Le Pen and Meloni) will come into power.

We need better education for the people who are already living here (the natives so to speak) and then better integration strategies for the immigrants.

Immigration cannot be solved when you only cater to the Nazis. I hope Europe will understand that eventually.

Historically... Europe has the biggest responsibility to take care of refugees and migrants... because we meddled in all the continents, murdered hundreds of millions of people... drew artificual borders and created artifical countries in Africa and the Middle East and everywhere we set foot.

We in Europe also polluted the seas and air... and raped all the other countries for their ressources. We caused the climate change and now that people cannot live in their countries anymore... the only humane thing is to welcome them here. --> my opinion.

1. Some Europeans-Northamerican see non-white immigrants as second-class citizens-debris and don't want to integrate them in any way even if they do their best best. Their cordiality is fake. Racism-Xenophobia exists, but it's usually very passive-aggressive in europe

2. There are Some immigrants from our third world countries who only go to do bad things because they grew up in bad economical or bad life conditions that shaped their lives in a very negative ways and maybe is too late to fix them. They were a problem here for all of us ruining our lives-safety-wellbeing...now you all have to deal with that cmrip

We're definitely living through something special. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Where are the military forces exactly? I see they are still vandalising and trying to occupy people's houses in Ceuta! ....
