I've been curious about everyone's thoughts on this subject for a while seeing as it rarely comes up in the political discussions on here.

Are you pro or anti capital punishment? Personally, I've found myself more and more against it as time has gone on. On top of all the innocent people that have been convicted only to later be exonerated by new evidence, it just feels immoral for the state to have any say in whether someone should live or die.

Absolutely kill the pdf.files and child abusers. Everything else can probably be debated but also feel free to add to it

I think it is atrocious and a severe human rights violation.

I'm against it in principle. But there are certain cases I read about where I'm like "I hope they burn them alive".

Some things are just unforgivable.

Against. Death is too good for some people. Suffer on earth like the rest of us have to^.

But there's these type of criminals that deserve it

Against in every, every, every possible case.

Against. Some people deserve to physically rot and suffer in jail until their death. And death penalty just ensures they'll end their suffering immediately.

Prisons have high social costs tho

in cases like pedophilia, human rights criminals, etc, my instincts make me for death penalty. But it's best to be against, and recognize dignity in everyone.

Usually against it but if its someone without a shadow of a doubt did something truly heinous like a serial child predator or the Boston bomber than…..I mean I guess….

If the justice system had an 100% success rate, I would be for it for rapists and murderers.

However, we know that's not true, and if an innocent person was executed…

This basically, but i just wanna say that even if im against death penalty, every persons case on death row makes me go "they need to die, theres no other way"

It depends, of course in a perfect world I'd say I'm in favor of it for horrible crimes, but in practice, it ends up being used as another tool of control against any oppressed class.

Against in practice since 4% of the time they kill innocent people. Morally I'm not against it.

I'm not sure tbh but I wish victims or their relatives would be allowed to physically torture rapists, serial killers, pdfs, etc on top of lifelong imprisonment ofc. I can't imagine myself getting a sense of joy if someone who hurt me or a loved one got the death penalty unless I got the chance to physically harm them myself.

If a mass murderer person is taken into custody then they should just rot in jail for life. There is small percentage of the population that are incapable of being rehabilitated.

Against

• More likely to suffer at prison vs a quick painless death

• innocent victims have been released before

A very primal part of me is for it, but only when I read/hear about unspeakable things people do to children (like I said in that other thread).

But my rational, "educated" self is firmly against it. It's a tell tale sign of barbarianism and ultimately only serves an oligarch ruling class to use it against the oppressed/working class.
