Tina/Cher did it before her- have some respect for the artists that opened the doors for more seasoned acts.

In terms of success for women over 50 that is surely the top 3.

Any number of others have served equal or greater quality material in their 50s.

If we go by numbers and stats, you'd be correct. No disrespect to Cher, but when it comes to the whole package (selling, performing, touring, overall talent) I'd say the other two are/were on a different level at 50 and beyond, especially Tina. She's in a league of her own.

If you're talking musical output, Tina's album was amazing and I still listen to it today but she didn't do anything new to what she was doing previously, whereas HC was a new direction for Madonna, so she deserves her flowers for that, and all the effort she put in for S&S. That's not to say I'm discrediting Tina's tour,because that was obviously great...but again, I didn't see anything new there either, whereas Madonna's tour was very different to the previous ones.

Cher? Believe (the song) was obviously great and she's a wonderful artist, but there was nothing else on that album that measured up to the lead single, proving it was all a fluke. Strangely enough, Cher hasn't had a top 50 on the BB hot 100 since that song went to #1 almost 30 years ago.

The only thing they did before Madonna was turn 50. It's not Madonna's fault she's younger and has more creativity than the pair of them put together.

"Believe" (album) sold 20 million copies worldwide and her "Do you Believe?" And "Living Proof" tours grossed $250 million.

How was she not on Madonna/Tinas level when Madonna's albums didn't sell that much in her 50s and Tina didn't make as much money touring in her 50s?

Sales for albums in 1997 were much stronger than they were in 2008.

Besides, Ray of Light album sold 16m, and Music 11m worldwide.

Wanna know what Cher's "Its a Man's World" was selling prior to her "Believe" album?

So what was the reason for the public buying the Hard Candy album, and her getting the record for the highest grossing tour by a female artist exactly?

You can drag her sales as much as you want but Living Proof is probably her best album and miles ahead of Believe in quality.

Also her follow up was Not.Com.mercial (free digital album) similar to what Miley did with Dead Petz
