alexanderao
I would applaud Starboy, but half of it doesn't deserve to be #1.
brianc33710
Can someone change 160k to 60k? I clicked in wondering how SB surged 100k SPS, when it's really virtually unchanged.
KORDEI
I thought it said 160k too but it's "#1 60k"
foxaylove
Man, the collapse of sales is horrifying. Even with streaming, this is pretty bad. Anyways, I love the Starboy album, so congrats to Abel for more weeks at #1. Can't wait to see him on tour in May
QueenofCopyPaste
CHART STORY: XO + XX = $$ The Weeknd’s Starboy (XO/Republic) is #1 on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart for a third consecutive (and fourth nonconsecutive) week with just south of 60k. The xx’s new album, I See You, put up a solid fight, though, debuting at #2 and earning 48k for label Young Turks. Interscope‘s La La Land soundtrack continues to hold strong at #3 with 42k, as the movie remains the talk of Tinseltown during awards season. Meanwhile, the soundtrack for the go-to family flick of the holiday season, Moana, follows at #4 with 34k for Disney. And the Trolls soundtrack—out via RCA—breaks back into the Top 10 days after Justin Timberlake wins the popular vote for favorite song with “Can’t Stop the Feeling” at the People’s Choice Awards. As for that dude who didn’t win the popular vote, but also knows a thing or two about “streaming”… well, he did something today, we think. With the Grammys just a few weeks away, Adele’s 25 (XL/Columbia) returns to the Top 20, Sia’s This Is Acting (Monkey Puzzle/RCA)—up for Best Pop Vocal Album—hops back into the Top 25 and DCD2 band Panic! at the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor—up for Best Rock Album—goes #33-24. Back to that guy who didn’t win the popular vote. Following Run the Jewels’ intense, politically charged pre-inauguration show in D.C., the chart shows an increase in streaming for their Run the Jewels 3 (Run the Jewels/RED), which re-enters at #35. The set’s "Kill Your Masters" and "Close Your Eyes (And Count to ****)" were both performed, and the gig got lots of press coverage. Discounted to $6.99, Drake mixtape If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late (YMCMB/Republic) also re-enters the chart (at #40). And Halsey’s Badlands too makes a reappearance, coming back in at #42, as her new single for Fifty Shades Darker, “Not Afraid Anymore,” starts to buzz. When it comes to SPS marketshare, UMG leads with 52%. Then there’s WMG at #2 with 30% and SME at #3 with 18%. Over on the Album Sales Chart, The xx album is #1 with 38k. And the results from the Album Sales marketshare battle look rather different when compared to the SPS rankings. There, WMG is #1 with 42%, while UMG and SME follow with 38% and 17%, respectively. Streeting this week are the first batch of songs from John Mayer’s 10th album, which were released as an EP called The Search for Everything - Wave One (Columbia), and an album from Concord’s AFI, as well as the 34th edition of Kidz Bop Kidz (also out via Concord) and WMG’s 2017 Grammy Nominees compilation set. fridayteenage
Sad week. Almost all new lows based on final hdd estimates, after a bunch were set last week: #3 16.3k vs. 17.6k #4 15.8k vs. 17.1k #5 13.7k vs. 15.1k #6 12.4k vs. 13.6k #7 11.6k vs. 12.9k #8 10.8 vs. 11.7k #9 9.7k vs. 11.3k #10 8.5k vs. 10.1k So not only would the standard for the T10 be below 10k for the first time, but the T9 would be simultaneously. If I added the numbers correctly, the T10 combined sold about 165k...The week that we got the still-#1-low, The Descendants, the T10 had 214k.
