I believe Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp is worthy to be an essential listen for sheer amount of excellence emitting from its pores. The perfect electronic/folk ballad album that definitely impacted several indie darlings such Lana, Janelle, Taylor, Kimbra, etc

Utopia - still too ahead of time

Those vocals were definitely emulated

Pilot: The Masterpiece

Several instrumentals were remixed

Humans: The Template for certain girls' eras

So, yeah. that's the thread. Also, FM is a pop bible in my books in terms of impact on industry and said impact is still felt to this day in pop ballads.

    You're right and you should say it. Miss Goldfrapp deserves to have her Kate Bush moment, she has classics upon classics and aside from some random LGBTs literally no one has noticed.

    i think i brought this up in the trip hop thread the other day but idk if that's what it even is. it's such a strange and distinct record, has that seedy symphonic tone to it and i think you can definitely hear the impact on early lana and then everything that comes out of that. "fascist baby" is the first lyric that comes to mind as well, in an era of fascist babies it is surely still an album for the times

    Exactly! It's really a matter of the culture at large. The average homosexual of today doesn't have the range to appreciate GOOD forward thinking pop music anymore
