  • Cypriots are more upset that Turkey has illegally occupied half of the island for decades, long before Erdogan.

  • Greece and Cyprus are like 2 inches big with weak armies so they need to sit down

  • Half of Cyprus has been illegally occupied by Turkey since the mid-1970s, what makes you think the next Turkish leader would act any differently

You kinda made their point for them why they formed the alliance. For Israel there's probably alternative motives

Yikes.

I get Turkey under Erdogan has been really pushy and bullying Cyprus especially but this isn't the way to go about this. Erdogan is getting old and will move on one day soon and ultimately Turkey is in NATO. Realistically it will never actually harm either countries beyond its maritime claims that it won't even really ever control. This is just a horrible move for Cyprus and Greece.

Cypriots are actually really upset by this from what I see online and they also don't like that apparently Israeli shadow companies have bough MASSIVE swaths of Cypriot land and real estate out of nowhere…very bad

of course but there's room to be skeptical about Israel's motives which many Cypriots have expressed.

This is an alliance of necessity and the minute Turkey has a leader that isnt a hyper nationalist tensions will lighten up significantly.

Well well well if it isnt the consequence of their own actions

I'm Cypriot but delusionally ignoring the fact that Greek Cypriots were on an ethnic cleansing mission to achieve enosis when Turkey interfered is wild

Yes Turkey is currently invading, and I don't like it either, but it was not out of the blue

Netanyahu and Erdogan are both assholes who should be ousted from our planet. Greece and Cyprus are understandably feeling threatened.

The Turkish invasion also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands (= ethnic cleansing) so let's not act like the Turkish are some human rights warriorsrip

Probably far more to do with the fact that the Turks occupied about 99% of what is now Greece and Cyprus for about 400 years ( and the Turkish army has been occupying northern Cyprus since 1974 too) and they are (understandably) a tad sensitive about any possibility of reverting to that, don't you think???

I do think there are better ways to prevent that from happening than siding with one of the most evil governments of the world right now.

I don't disagree. However not everyone's motivations begins and ends with Palestine.

My viewpoint is that country that knows what ethnic cleansing and being a refugee means, can do better.
