Tbh she's always been the most overrated of the dames. Across film and tv, she was already a 6 time BAFTA winner before he came along, but he was a significant driving force behind the success and the accolades and the status and the international recognition that she's accrued in the last 30 years. Even Maggie Smith, a two time Oscar winner who had the polularity of Potter and Downton behind her, (jokingly) complained about all the roles going to Judi.

I won't go too hard on her since life already has, but it's not surprising. I kinda get how it's hard for her to see (well....) someone that is close to you being deemed as a horrible person, when she didn't have the same experience, specially since she is that old from a very old generation. I mean yes this is an exceedingly awful take from her, but the woman is 91. I'm not necessarily expecting her to be on the right side of history about sexual assault when she grew up in a time when it was …. Like it literally just came with the job; the entire ecosystem she came up in was about brushing that sort of thing off and rising above it

I don't agree with that sentiment personally, and further I think Weinstein deserves to spend the rest of his days in prison and that Kevin Spacey should be ostracized from Hollywood for the rest of his life .. but I'm not gonna grab my pitchforks and cancel a 91 year old for having a backwards opinion that doesn't align with the 2025 standards of decent behavior. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just gonna file it away in the "well that sucks" folder and enjoy dame Judy whenever she pops up in a movie I like

Your parents gave you life, if they raped multiple people would you still defend/forgive them because this ain't the look.
