Paramount gatecrashes Warner Bros-Netflix deal with $108bn hostile bid

Paramount has launched a $108bn hostile bid to buy Warner Bros Discovery, partnering with Middle East sovereign wealth funds and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to derail Netflix's agreed deal.

The all-cash offer for the whole of Warner, including its studio, streaming and cable businesses, values the media group at $30 a share, which Paramount said "provides shareholders $18bn more in cash than the Netflix consideration".

Following a three-month auction process, which was kicked off by Paramount's initial bid for Warner, Netflix last week sealed an $82.7bn deal to buy the media giant's studio assets and its HBO Max streaming service.

Netflix's deal, which would reshape Hollywood by putting a technology company at the helm of one of the most famous studios, had already drawn the ire of powerful unions and the attention of Trump, who said on Sunday that he would be involved in reviewing the transaction.

Netflix's deal valued Warner's studio and streaming assets at $27.75 a share, and excluded its cable assets such as Discovery and CNN, which Warner plans to spin off next year.

This is why everyone complaining about the Netflix deal looks like clowns, the alternative is so much worse. We don't need the conservatives/Trump having even more influence and power.

Trump commented on that deal and now his son in law is pushing a deal….how is that ok

So it's either Trump's Warner Bros or Netflix's Warner Bros aka death of cinema?

It went from bad to worse to worst

I really wish this monopolization wasn't happening

welcome to the death of cinema siptea

Welp. It's over

With no backing from the WB board to ensure confidence and $30 per share this won't move the needle. Such a waste of time. If he wants to be taken seriously he needs to make a bid that is a non-arguably better deal than Netflix which is estimated to be between $30.75 and $33.75 depending on how you value the remaining company after the split.

Waiting for that We are Charlie Kirk movie atp

Wasn't Jared Kushner also a part of the EA-Saudi Arabia deal ? Trump's friends and family is just buying the whole country up while they can lmao.

Good luck with all the propaganda and low efford brain rot content they're going to feed you after they bought up every entertainment service.

It's not ok but we live in a real life dictatorship/fascist nation. But the billionaires control the world so at least this is all showing us how "voting" and "power in numbers" is just a facade to keep the people from thinking the billionaires rule the world…

Let me know when we are ready for the revolution!

I saw a TikTok two days ago of a girl literally predicting this, and Warner Bros being bullied into selling Discovery off early, saying that the Oligarchs true motive was never buying Warner Bros, it was about buying Discovery (and CNN) before the midterm elections in the USA. She also showed that the Oligarch behind the bidding did not seriously prepare for a take over of the entire company at all. He previously founded 3 LLC to take over Paramount one week before the deal was announced, but one week before the Netflix deal was announced he only had founded 1 singular LLC.

I honestly thought I'd be laughed at for sharing this on ATRL and be ridiculed for spreading conspiracy theories, but... she was 1000% correct omg deadvision

There are truly no "good solutions" in this scenario beyond WB reneging and deciding not to sell themselves , but ya Paramount acquiring it is the worst of the worst options for sure

The involvement of "Middle East sovereign wealth funds" in particular is …. Extremely troubling.
