Just... why? The 2009 Grammys were almost 17 years ago and the Freaky Friday crooner is still bagging radio hits, viral streaming hits, sold-out stadium shows and even a Grammy win last year. This year alone he's been on a remix of Leon Thomas' Mutt, featured on Summer Walker's album, and got a top 20 hit with Bryson Tiller.

Is the music that good? suburban

Every once in a while he has a good song.

His 20 year long career and "performer" image is really what gets people to go to his concerts. He also has influence on some singers I guess

I'm actually curious about which artists have publicly spoken against him. I can only think of Tinashe and Zara Larsson

colorism and misogyny

Miranda Lambert said some things after Chris performed twice at the 2012 Grammys.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/miranda-lambert-questions-chris-browns-grammy-appearance/

How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl...

Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.

i still remember that D...

the reality is that DV is incredibly common and people stay with their own abusive partners and parrot the same talking points. why would the industry kick out chris if they are going home to someone like him?

I really don't understand it because he is BORING same tired music with the same tired dance move with the same generic singles with albums with no direction.

He is always chasing trends. He isn't pushing boundaries or remotely interesting.

He only has two good albums that's it.

Men are never held to the same moral standards as women. It's sad but it's true.

idk. But it proves the whole "false accusations ruin men's lives" thing false. Like sir, hm not even the true accusations are ruining their lives

The general public doesn't really care about controversies if the music is good.

Also males get away with everything, females usually face worse backlash

He's still nowhere as big as he use to be before he beat his girlfriends face in. In the mainstream, no one hears or talks about him.

Big dick.

But his song Residuals played on my spotify the other day and it's good.

Bruno Mars plays the pop game a little too much for r&b audiences to be truly comfortable with him when him and Justin are the only real talents to have come out of that late 00s r&b pop boom.

Justin Bieber had DAISIES and YUKON but outside of that he kinda didnt make any noise outside of tabloids these past few years.

Post Malone is hip hop for white men and now hes a country star so ofc theyre turning their backs on him

Chris Brown is still an active live performer, despite mid quality albums and an insanely problematic CURRENT and PAST history, he still is active by all definitions of an active artist in the industry and fulfills an r&b niche abandoned by Usher (WE NEED KING BACK!), thats why hes still in the game, he makes acceptable r&b-pop with none of the glamour or flair of a Bieber/Bruno type making him the perfect machismo artist.

The black community easily excuse men until their behaviour is inexcusable. He is loved in the black community unfortunately and seen as some kind of victim that the industry powers want to cancel . A recent example is Megan and Tory lane scenario. A lot of blacks still support Tory and see him as a victim. Go to shaderoom comments section on IG and see for yourself.

PS- I'm black

I don't really see any uncomfortable aura around Bruno Mars, a lot of older Black people didn't even know who he was till 24K Magic era. But he's generally well liked now

You know who deserves his career & success.

R&B super star Mario! His music has always had a level of excellence, depth & quality that's Chris is lacking.

Because he is attractive, makes good music, and insanely talented. All of the str8s love him

He just went on a stadium tour

And he definitely had a global hit a couple years ago because it went viral on tik tok, it has 1.7B on Spotify

I'm not sure what's your threshold of "no one hears or talks"

I agree he would have been even bigger if he didn't abuse Rihanna + anger management problems though.

If I remember correctly, I think Mario stepped away from the industry after 2009 because of his mom???

Though he came back years later, he just needed stronger songwriters. He can sing really well

Just goes to show that cancellation has never been that effective (it can slow you down, for a time, and that's about it). The public at large doesn't really care. As long as the industry doesn't try to stop him (or anyone else, really), there's nothing stopping them.

Yes he took a decade break after his 4th studio album but since has released 3 more albums.

His 5th studio album is his best but he has 6 albums in total.

Mario is just as bad?
