  • Very incorrect.   she wouldn't be so local if that were the case.

My bad, fixed it :celestial5:

There's an argument for Shakira as well I think.

Under 40s would be Lady Gaga and Taylor.

Depends on what part of the world you're living in. I wouldn't say she's the most legendary artist under 50 in Asia or Latin America.

I don't think she's local. I live in a European country, and she sold out a stadium in minutes for the Renaissance tour. She could have easily sold out another date, something many popular local artists here cannot achieve :alexz:

Of course it's correct.

We are talking about someone who has it all.

The looks

The high sales.

The talent.

The achievements.

Who else?

Yes when you balance all the elements. She may not be the top of them all, but on one can boast the achievements she has overall:

  • Massive commercial success spanning 4 decades
    • Songs
    • Albums
    • Tours
    • Films
  • Took over the industry twice (as a lead singer and solo)
  • Game changing moves
    • Surprise releases
    • Visual albums
  • Responsible for some of pop music's biggest artistic heights of the last 25 years
  • Immense respect and high-regard from fans, the public, her peers and the press alike
  • First rate performer well above the rest (she's performed at the Super Bowl 4 times)
  • Vocal magnitude
    • Iconic, influential style
  • [as much as people want to denigrate it] songwriting
  • Cultural impact and importance
  • Staying power
    • It's not easy to be so relevant nearly 30 years into your career, and most legends truthfully are not, even if they are beloved and unanimously adored. Beyoncé, however, has managed for her music to still have impact and cultural weight.

This is an interesting way to look at "most legendary".

  1. "Most legendary" as in: who is regarded as a legend to the most amount of people.
  2. "Most legendary" as in: whose legend-hood is biggest relative to their markets, their peers, what they do, etc.

I'd still argue that Beyoncé fulfils both, as she is not nearly as "local" as you are claiming her to be, with appreciation for her happening around the world as well as in the US (the world's biggest music market) while also being an unequivocal legend in her industry.
