Are you jealous of people who don't have to work

Featured Replies

They get to lounge by pool and watch TV all day. Maybe have a few kids and actually have time to raise them.

Not really. If you have a job you truly love, working shouldn't be dreadful.

  • It takes up a lot of time. No one should have to work more than 22 hours per week.

  • I'm more jealous of the people that travel the world all the time, whenever they want

Sure, if they're rich. No, if they're poor. Seems like an easy question to answer :toofunny3:

I'm more jealous of the people that travel the world all the time, whenever they want

Exactly.

And comparing with those super rich people I only know from internet and magazines, I'm even more jealous of those people who're just come from middle-class family and still don't have to work. Sometimes they live for just renting some of their property, sometimes their parents just keep feeding them. I know few people around me are just like this and I'm MAD. Yes I have a nice job but I have to work my **** out to pay my rent , spending my precious 20s and 30s in the office with the daily routine that can't be more boring. Meanwhile they're traveling everywhere, playing game with friends and working out in the gym. Every evening I come home with exhausted mind and body, I can't control my jealousy

Not necessarily because they don't work, more that they don't HAVE TO work

Nah not working makes people lazy. Work gives me something to do and focus on.

sounds like ******* hell tbh

I love working - I work in the arts - and I love collaborating with my colleagues and comrades. It's one of the main things that gives purpose in life. That, together with traveling, getting to know people and foods and cultures, etc. But work is good.

Sitting in front the TV and the pool and raising kids is just capitalism and bullshit. It's death way before you die.

I'm fine working just 2 days a week. I think I would stress out if I did more than that

I was unemployed for 3 months after graduating and it was the most depressing time of my life, I hate still hate to be home all the time. If I spend one day at home I feel like **** by 7 pm :rip:

I guess people who don't need to work find ways to keep themselves busy, I would love to cultivate my hobbies, see my friends and family more, don't have to worry about finances at all. Duh. I would do volunteering, maybe study, I would probably take some degree about things I'm passionate about without making it about work.

I think we just need a better balance, I work 5/7 9-17, I think we need longer weekends or shorter shifts. I would love to be home on monday, have a day off in the middle of the week or work mornings.

Yes. I hate my job, and it's giving me PTSD to the point that I'm expecting any other job I may get to be just as stressful. If I could live comfortably without having to work, I absolutely would.

No. Doing nothing with my life depresses me. I need a structure where I "work" (whatever career it may be), and a counter structure where I disconnect to have my relaxation time. Permanent free time takes away the relaxation of it since it's just the default, and can become depressing. Usually after 2 weeks of time off I want to get back to work.

BUT if I were rich and could travel wherever I wanted that's a totally different story. The perfect world is working for yourself and taking vacay whenever you want imo:ducky:

40+ hours a week is a lot of time to give up every week, even if it's a job you love

No

I agree with other posters saying that not having a job feels aimless and very depressing. I can confirm from my past experience
