Lady Gaga is officially the first woman to EVER spend 50 weeks inside the top 10 of the BBH100, and a full year of 52 doesn't look that unlikely.

 

Is it time for Gaga to leave the pop girl squad and enter the one of LEGENDS?

 

The ones I would consider legends, for example:

 

Michael Jackson
Janet Jackson
Madonna
David Bowie
Elton John
Prince
Bruno Mars (#ThankYouLadyGaga, in his own words!)

etc.

I love that she wins no matter what. As someone who isn't a huge fan, she really is inspiring. She's not just a pop star, she really is in the lexicon, the stratosphere, more than any of the other girls I hear my kids talk about. 

Legends can be pop girls, though. 

She's a legend and THEE pop girl.

It's true and we should say it 

Yes. She foreshadowed her future-legend status with her 2009 Paparazzi performance. And DWAS/Abra/MAYHEM really cemented it.

Her impact and influence justifies that title. 

well yes! there are a few in her gen that transitioned recently too (at varying degrees). Gaga, Taylor, Rih, Lana and Adele come to mind as those that debuted in the 2005-2010 period that have now inarguably become legends and have secured their legacy even if they retired tomorrow. If you kept critical, cultural and/or commercial success afloat up until about last year or the year before and debuted around that 2005-2010 period then u have officially become a legend. 

 

Artists from her gen that could not maintain at least one of those things did not make it into legendhood status such as Katy Perry and the like. They are throwback artists that perform their big hits on New Years Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest or whatever and make cute appearances on tv shows performing their catalog. The ones that transitioned into legendhood also kinda give a bit of throwback vibes at times (as people want to hear mostly their past hits) but what sets them apart is that they still are culturally, commercially or critically relevant and viable to varying degrees (with Taylor of course blowing everyone in that list out of the water) so they arent throwbacks. They became legends.

She cemented her legend status since awhile already, this new Hot100 achievement along with the others she did in 2025 are just a plus. 

Yeah whenever someone talks about Gaga now its just common knowledge that she's legend status at this point. I think it happened in 2019 with ASIB tbh

She was THAT girl in her Debut era. Too bad she kicked out the team behind her image
and the magic was just NOT there despite her attempting to recreate it (as recently as 2025)
